Re: More tired now, please help!!!!!
Things came together for me after a week of adjustment to sleeping with this alien blowing into my face. Give it some time, you have the right attitude to succeed.

WOW Slinky, that is the opposite of my "get back to sleep" plan. Eat something and read "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene. I have been reading it for about 5 years. A snack, and a few pages of science for the masses in the middle of the night, and I'm down for the count. I'm 2/3 of the way to t...

My experience matches Snoregirl's. The sleepdoc is just a signature on the form. No followup calls or compliance checks, "here is the mask, here is the machine, good luck" Everything seems to be working, so I appreciate the lack of pestering from the medical community but if issues occur in the futu...

"I had an uncle who seriously held his breath, snorted and choked in his sleep. He was also overweight and drank a lot. He lived to be 85 and died of cancer. It's his example that I sometimes have my doubts how highly correlated sleep apnea is with other health problems." My father-in-law had a simi...

Sharon My brother had the study and left the lab without getting any info. I called him today (three weeks later) and was told he "hasn't heard from them or called them to find out what the study conclusions are". I guess the constant emails you used are the next step. I swear I was switched at the ...

How long can you use the standard filter at $2 EACH? They appear quite small for the resmed machine. I was using inline filters with the larger area and opened one in the garage to try to replace the filter material. A search for replacement Hepa filter material did not locate a source but the hepa ...

Idget Some things to look forward to: Driving without being asleep half the time. I just drove from the Oregon/California border to SF. without feeling sleepy. It would have been a nightmare before cpap. Replacing water damaged panels in the garage after 5 years of putting off the task. I will finis...

sharon1965 Great job getting some of the family to have the study and get the treatment. Wow! Progress in the face of all the stories about stubborn resistance. It is nice to hear a success in all the " My relatives will not listen" posts. My younger brother was referred for a study and was dragging...

They make custom fit mouthguards for football and other sports, custom insoles for shoes, why not custom masks? It fits the medical profession model. It will take longer, require a custom fitting, cost more. Why haven't the DMEs come up with this? They could require three more doctor visits, maybe a...

I have an inline filter after the machine and no humidifier so the hose stays dry and clean. I wash the "pillows" once a week and just rinse the hose when I remember to. A rare event. If you are using the humidifier, or live in a humid area, more washing is the norm. I also use baby shampoo to clean...

Try some inline filters in the hose between the machine and the mask for clean air. I use inline filters and notice the dust and pollen only after I get up and remove the mask. Some sneezing first thing in the morning is the proof I had clean air all night with the filter. I have not disassembled th...
