AHI Plateau?

I got my CPAP in early July and am feeling MUCH better. No more dozing while driving or at my desk. More productive at work. Seem to be able to remember stuff better. Never thought I had OSA as bad as some despite a 100+ AHI during my sleep study, i.e. not falling asleep mid-sentence. Got the ResSca...

I think that "something like" 29/28 means that its been 29 nights since the first time you used your machine and the 28 means either the number of nights total that you've used it or the total number of nights you've used it more than 4 hours a night. I'm pretty sure that in my case, it's an improp...

Your Elite is data capable ... have you checked your leak rate? That is what Jim is referring to. Air pressure may be lost when your yap flies open while you are asleep and not paying attention. Yeah, problems with keeping my mouth shut. Ask my former grade-school teachers ... actually high school ...

Re: Accuracy of machine software

I read the data from last night and there were a couple hypopneas that showed up when I know I was awake watching tv. The algorithms in any of the APAP machines are designed to work with the autonomous breathing that occurs when you are asleep. Any efficacy "results" you get from breathing through ...

I live in Florida and I always have to worry about power outages. I couldn't figure out all of the options for battery operation. Has anyone used a commercial (i.e. APC) UPS with their CPAP? I'd certainly be tempted if I had a lot of grid failures in my area. You'd have to read the CPAP's nameplate...

Headaches

Historically, I'm just not a headache person. Bugs the heck out of my wife because she is (migraines, optical migraines, sinus, you name it). Not me. Until the last week or so. I think tonight is my 29th night (the reminder to call the DME popped up today) and I didn't notice any headaches at first....

A power cable is not the same as an inverter. A power cable is used to connect a battery (or cigarette lighter outlet) to the CPAP. An inverter converts 12 volts to 120 volt AC (house current) to operate heated humidifiers and those few CPAPs that require 120 volts. Repeated for emphasis. I have th...

Hey, now. Fox News got a court to agree: there is no law preventing them from lying. http://www.projectcensored.org/publicat ... 05/11.html

Sounds like you've got the info wired plaws!!! Let us know how you're doing!!! Well, I don't know about that. I have been keeping notes since, though, and trying to note anomalies (like when I forget the decongestant or forget to top up the humidifier). The one thing about my numbers that really st...

Place your CPAP and humidifer on a level lower than the top of your mattress... Check. ... and just set your humidifier at whichever setting is most comfortable for you and you probably won't have any rainout problems. Check. Your Humidaire 3i manual suggests starting a 3. I gather that's half way....

ALWAYS use DISTILLED water, except in case of emergency. Can you distill your own? I just don't want to have to lug the jug home from the store. OK, I don't want to ask my wife to lug the jug home from the store. Tap water is out, as I said, due to hardness. Well, if you are changing the water in y...

Humidaire 3i on Resmed S8 Elite - how does it work?

Night 16 tonight. Getting better at this. Finally started to record my nightly numbers so that I can chart progress. The tech (not an RT) at the DME told me to fill the humidifier only to the line where the two plastic halves meet and not the "max" line else I'd be wasting water. OK. Tried that and ...

Re: Tell me about bloating and raw nose

ANYWAY... about 5:30am I woke up bloated and in pain from what I assume is the air swallowing I have seen mentioned here. What are the best ways to avoid this? Also, my nose is sore... between the nares. I think it's kind of like a wind burn. I think I will try some beeswax on it tonight. Will that...

But your machine must be set for the mask you are using of the leak rate has no meaning. Due to patient error and that design limitation, many patients won't have a true clue about leak rate. Jim Patient error? My S8 Elite came with the wrong mask set from the DME, which I fixed. I also fixed the t...

I was a drooler, though not every night. Until I got the box. Now I'm trying to become a back sleeper and have not noticed much drool, if any.
