I've had a good chinstrap method in place for awhile. It's definitely a contraption and a half to see, but it does the trick better than that abomination of a neoprene POS joke for the Adam circuit they sold me. Rooster's thread was an excellent introduction to how to do this thing right, but these ...

Time for some taping and tech PAP questions...
'Been at 'er for with this taping and whatnot for a couple of weeks now... not seeing noticeable difference. I can appreciate that it may take even a couple of months before crawling out of the whole of long-term sleep deprivation, but I'd still expect to be experiencing a noticeable difference afte...

Newer "sleep-inducing" medications like Immovane, Ambien, don't, to my knowledge, "worsen apnea" through a relaxant action on the muscles (like the drugs mentioned above) BUT, and this is a big but, if you are VERY asleep (due to the effectiveness of the medication) and you cannot be easily wakened...

You're in a large and experienced room of comrades when talking about depression and OSA. The connection the two share is not near as unearthed as it should be, but in my opinion as someone having been through my own version of your and the other stories here, OSA is responsible for a lot more of th...

Is there a maximum dosage range? Though I've no experience dealing with Melatonin, it is supposedly a rather safe substance with next to no first-hand side effects. Sleep-inducing chemicals, however, do have the unfortunate inherent curse of worsening a person's apnea while the drug is in their syst...

The connection between mood disorders and OSA is disturbing and needs every bit of light shon on it that is possible. If you're doing OK on less Trilep and can see CPAP as being what's helping, man, it's good to hear! If addictions are a concern then yes, by all means be cautious of Ativan, as well ...

Ativan will be a good choice to keep you 'mellowed'. It can worsen apnea for some, but the variable range on your machine may very-well handle it, so I guess take this only as information, not alarm. As far as the BiPolar symptoms go, both yourself and Jennmary sound like textbook examples of what h...

Unless you've exhausted the possibilities, Gene's on the right note. A couple weeks ago I thought I was two nights away from throwing my hands up in the air and resorting to my preferred way to fix things (power tools). Instead, the list of possible culprits is long and extremely feasible to treat. ...

Lucky guy, I hope it was great! I love the Scandi countries and would love to get to see them some day. As far as electricity, 220 is usually a pretty safe feat to tap down to 120, altho it's good to hear that you've had success with it (do let us know if something electrical in the machine breaks d...

centrals. Sorry, come again? Some sort of breathing difficulty, I imagine. Another titration would be a great idea. I'd actually look forward to it. After twelve rounds of ECT [two of which went horribly wrong ] sleeping with a gazillion electrodes attached to me never really made me nervous. Lastl...

(cold, aches and pains, emotional state ), Now you've really got my gears turning. I wouldn't have guessed but am now noticing a distinct pattern... Anyway, I love this free association as it brings to light all sorts of nifty little things! Thanks everyone, and don't be shy! I've been using the sa...

Though I imagine it comes at a fast and furious pace until you begin to digest it, the information throughout this forum has done leaps and bounds to fill in the gaps in communication experienced between myself and the laboratory that started me on all of this. Educating yourself will be both your b...

Ah, thank you Jen. Physically I've not found any discomfort or problem with the pressure setting, but it seems that over the past two years (been on CPAP for 2.5 years) my quality of rest has gone down the tubes on a slow but steady decline. It's good to know that I'm not crazy, anyway and that all ...
