Resmed VPAP COPD
I think my dr. will approve a new machine for me (Resmed VPAP COPD) as I have COPD. I want to make sure this machine is compatible with my favorite mask which is a Resmed Swift LT. This machine is not showing on Resmed's list of compatible machine/masks. Does anyone know? Also I have Complex Apnea a...

Re: SlimLine tubing
I have a 5 yr. old Respironics Bi-Pap AutoSV Advanced (not System One). I do not see where it has a setting for the slim tubing. Can I use it or must I stick the the regular size tubing?

Re: Smallest, lightest machine for Complex Apnea
Well, maybe I can't get a new machine after all. Medicare says my existing machine has to be declared non-repairable. There's really nothing wrong with it other than it's noisy (my wife has to wear earplugs) and bulky and heavy to carry when we travel, but it's always been this way.

Re: Smallest, lightest machine for Complex Apnea
Thanks for the good advice. I prefer Resmed because you can talk directly with them with any questions or problems. DME's are not always very helpful. I like the Resmed AirCurve 10 ASV as it seems to meet my needs. The last time I had a Resmed machine with a humidifier some little drops of water mus...

Smallest, lightest machine for Complex Apnea
I am currently using a 5 yr. old Respironics Bi-Pap Auto SV Advanced machine with humidifier. It's noisy, large and heavy. I travel a lot so I need a machine that is as small and light as possible. I have tried looking online for the current models of a Resmed or Respironics machine to treat Complex...

Re: Periodic Breathing 100% !!!
Went to my pulmonary guy yesterday and showed him my printouts. He said they were just aberrations and not to worry about them. He said no doctors pay much attention to those numbers other than the AHI. My AHI's were fine, so he's happy.

Re: Periodic Breathing 100% !!!
My internist "suspects" (not confirmed) diverticulitis based on the location of the pain, my having a fever, and other symptoms. If we all had x-rays every time we have a pain we'd probably be suffering from some cancer as a result as well as adding to the enormous cost of health care. The doctor pr...

Periodic Breathing 100% !!!
I have been on a Respironics BiPap Auto SV Advanced for 18 months. I have both severe central and obstructive apnea (untreated AHI is 55). Things have been going great over the past 6 months. The past 10 days I developed some abdominal pain which worsened the past 4 days. Not acute, but certainly un...

Re: How to make Encore Viewer 2.0 work in 64-bit systems
OK - I'll try this, but since Encore Viewer is running on Windows 7 (64 bit) in XP Mode, do I download the XP 32 bit driver or the 64 bit Windows 7 driver? Once downloaded, do I install it while I am in XP Mode or do I just install it while I am on the Windows 7 desktop ?

Re: How to make Encore Viewer 2.0 work in 64-bit systems
I installed Encore Viewer 2.0 in Windows 7 Pro in the XP Mode. It worked fine one time, finding the card reader and downloading my data. Then 2 days later I plugged the card reader into the same USB slot and the program did not recognize the card reader. I tried clicking on "USB" at the top of the X...

ResMed Machines for CSA
Aside from the VPAP Adapt SV, does ResMed make any other machine which treats complex sleep apnea? I need a machine which will work with their Swift LT mask (which the VPAP Adapt SV won't).

Re: Getting Some Half Breaths
I am not able to breathe in further- like I hit a block or the machine is exerting pressure. I, of course, don't know for sure that it's the machine. I don't have this problem when I'm not wearing it and maybe taking a little nap.

Getting Some Half Breaths
After much experimentation with my Respironics Bi-Pap Auto SV Advanced I was finally able to get settings which produced an average AHI of 5 and below. However, for the past week now, as I am going off to sleep, I notice that on one of maybe every 7 to 10 breaths I am only able to take about a half ...

Re: Medicare Rules for Mask Replacement ??
I asked the Medicare agent if that meant I could get another mask and headgear every 3 months and she said "yes". But she may have just used the same logic that I used.

Re: Medicare Rules for Mask Replacement ??
I actually need the headgear more frequently. It just does not seem to hold properly and needs constant adjustment after 3-4 months. I do want clarification as to what the Medicare rules are- as far as I can see they say complete mask replacement every 3 months is OK. I called Medicare and the agent...
