I read online about a chin strap being sold as alternative to CPAP machine. Anyone know about this and if it is a safe alternative??

Provigil
Dr. said she was almost positive of narcolepsy, even without MLST. If insurance requires it I'll have to.

Provigil (modafinil) prescribed by sleep dr./anyone else?
Dr. prescribed provigil because she believes I have a form of narcolepsy in addition to OSA. My #s are pretty good but fatigue remains. Anyone else have same diagnosis w/ meds? I'm a little concerned about the stimulant aspect of the drug,as I have high bp and recent TIA. I will be monitoring the bp...

Rant on sleep dr./help please
Another dissatisfied customer. My sleep dr. is in office 2 days/wk - no answer at office - went directly and left note that I need to see her. How can med. offices operate like this? Please look at my numbers for last night which are fairly average: usage - 7 hours Equipment: RedMed S-8 Auto Vantage...

What is "sleep efficiency?"
My sleep study notes a "sleep efficiency" of 87.5% - with norms of 85-99.
What does this mean? I certainly don't feel that I sleep efficiently!!

pillow vs. mask
What would be the reasons (other than claustrophobia) for choosing a pillow over a nasal or full face mask? I have Comfort Gel and my leak rate varies from .22L/s to 48. Last night my AHI was 13 (AI4, HI9). Have been on the Red Med Machine for almost 2 months and feel NO different. I am becoming ove...

Still no daily data
Thanks for the quick reply. When I followed your directions I get a "no data" reading. I'm wondering if this machine simply doesn't compute by the day.

Help with my numbers
My mask is a Respironics Comfort Gel. Is a leak rate of 0.58 L/s high? My machine indicates a HIGH leak and I then adjust the mask.

3 Weeks - still exhausted
Many have described problems adjusting to mask. Mine is fine - always rated "excellent fit," yet I still wake up a zombie. There is also a lot of talk about mouth breathing which affects therapy. I don't think I'm doing this but how would I know? I can't think of what else might be the problem. You ...
