Topic: Got my machine & the last 3 days! (looong post)

Hang in there - it took me a month before I got over the anxiety of my mask. But now it feels much more natural. I placed my machine on a towel doubled over a few times on the floor under my bed. This really cut down on the noise level to where my wife could tolerate it. Also, and I am no expert so ...

I am new to cpap (actually a resmed vpap) and own the Quattro. I am still trying to get used to sleeping with an object on my face, and havent made through a whole night. But I can say that the mask fits very well around my nose and mouth and there do not appear any leaks. A word of warning, DO NOT ...

I've been on the APAP maybe 10 days. Frankly, it causes me a great deal of anxiety. It is very difficult for me to fall asleep, and I seem to wake up at least every hour. Yet in the daytime I feel better than before I started treatment. The other night I decided I wanted a stress free night without ...

I have that mask - tell me about the plumbers tape fix.

I'm guessing it has to do with where the elbow meets the mask?

Mine seems to have started leaking from there...

I also thought that disassembling the whole thing was overkill. But I am a "follow the instructions" kind of guy. Shame on me for following the manufacturer's instructions! Last night I kind of pushed on it a bit, and it seemed OK. The air escaping noise wasn't as bad. In fact, last night was my bes...

Cleaned my mask now it leaks

Following the directions, I disassembled my new Mirage Quattro for cleaning. Now it seems to leak where the elbow swivel attaches to the mask. It was difficult to remove the first time: now it comes off very easily. Nothing broke, it just doesn't fit nearly as tight. When I put some pressure on the...

Gasp - I definitely need to give your suggestions a try. Concerning the noise, I placed the machine on a towel, and moved it from my night stand to the floor. This made a HUGE difference, and now the sound is at an acceptable level for both me and my wife. Night 5 was good: I actually kept the mask ...

nights 3,4 and 5

Night 3 was pretty rough. I only kept the mask on for about 4 hours before removing it (those are pretty soft words, I actually ripped it off my face and threw it on the ground!) Night 4, I apparently removed it without knowing. At 5 am my wife woke me up and made me put it on. I went right back to ...

rested gal - thanks for that link! I do agree with Bear in that a completely sealed box would be a disaster. I was thinking of something people use to help quiet their projectors. Projectors get very hot, and if the bulb is not cooled properly it will explode. But built with sufficient ventilation, ...

Thanks Slinky. The mouse pad is a great idea. I'll give that a try. I figured someone may have already come up with some sort of hush box for these units. Something similar to what people use in their home theaters to reduce the sounds of their projectors. If I have the time I may try to work up som...

My first night was rough. I didn't get that smothering sensation - the exhalation relief worked well. But I couldn't seem to fall asleep - after 5 hours I decided to remove the mask and try to get a couple hours before work. I was really stressing on my breathing. I was conscious of every breath. I ...

Thank you both for replying and the words of encouragement. I'm glad to hear it appears I was treated well. I thought the staff and technician at the sleep center were very compassionate and helpful as well. Slinky, I couldn't really tell where to enable PM's, so I sent you one, just to be sure I ha...

Just got my Equipment - My Cpap Story

I concluded two sleep studies and got my equipment today. Tonight will be my first night on my own, and I am a bit nervous. My test did not go so great - I woke up freaking out and ripped off my mask. I think I know what claustrophobic people feel like. I finally psyched myself out and convinced mys...
