should I get a new machine?
I have a resmed S8 autoset which is 5 years old. It works well enough. I prefer to start it with the button but that wore out so I now have to start it by breathing into it. I can live with that. Insurance will pay for a new machine. Since Resmed is ok for me I would probably get an S9. I would feel...

GoodKnight 420G innards
Short version: I have a goodknight 420G which won't start up. I have nothing to lose by opening it . Any ideas how? For about 5 years I had a goodknight 420s . It died and I was due for a new one so got an APAP. But I figured I'd try for a replacement of the 420s for travel/backup. The 420 series wa...

Re: sinus infection
The oil in our skin helps protect it, so should you wash your face? How often? For some people very seldom, for others with very oily skin, frequently. Some nights I can't breath through my nasal-aire but after a neti session I can. Some days I wake up very dry or irritated from the air flow, a soot...

Re: Neti Pot Bad, Snot Good
I love my neti pot. I recently got a 16 oz stainless steel one (look on Amazon or Google) . I used to have to set my machine above 10 at times to blow through the congestion now I manage at 6 or so (I use a nasalaire II) . Used to be that sometimes the air blowing through all night would leave my na...

Re: My ACR38 issues with Vista RESOLVED!
Just yesterday I was able to get my card reader to work on my Vista computer. Until yesterday, I had to use the card reader on my XP laptop. In the Resmed/Rescan/Drivers folder in my Start/Programs menu, there is the Rescan USB adapter that I installed yesterday. I don't remember seeing that before...

Re: My ACR38 issues with Vista
Has anyone had the experience of trying a generic ACR38, it not working, and then getting an official Resmed reader and having it work? Bill Bolton, who obviously knows quite a lot, says that this shouldn't happen. I am beyond stumped. Either securetech has sent me two faulty readers or something is...

Re: My ACR38 issues with Vista
Do you have access to another PC you could install ResScan on just to make sure the card reader works? That is my next plan. I tried my vista32 laptop (with Resscan) and another computer with WINXP but the dreaded service pack 3 (merely tried to install the reader on that one) Same problems.. I pla...

Re: My ACR38 issues with Vista
I've tried both. The CD has 1.1.5.9 and the latest version is 1.1.6.0jdm2857 wrote:At this point are you using the driver disributed on the ResScan CD or the latest download from http://www.acs.com.hk?
I'd try the latest download if you're not using it.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r182/xccclusiv/Sleep/th_DSC01442.jpg True,if you do not have the ResScan Data Card Reader, you must reasearch how to make a proper smart card guide. Lots of threads on here explain how it might be done. And a number of people say they don't need a guide. BUT I care...

Re: My ACR38 issues with Vista
Are you sure that you have the narrow ResMed data card aligned properly in the full-width ACR 38 slot? Unless I have it in just right the quickview program says ACS ACR 38U 0 is present in the system No card is detected on reader If I slide the card in carefuly then the flashing light stays on for ...

Re: My ACR38 issues with Vista
Mathman, I reinstalled ResScan 3.7 and let it do its thing finding the card reader. Worked great the first time. I am upset that the card only holds three days of Detailed Data (that's why I wanted the cable). I feel your pain, Mark I'll try it. So what exact sequence? is it: 1) uninstall resscan 2...

Re: My ACR38 issues
I shows up in the device manager as ACR38 Smart Card Reader with Driver version 1.1.6.0 from ACS Driver Date 1/23/2009 but does not show up as a drive in my computer. That is normal. It should never show up as a "drive". Cheers, Bill Thanks. But it should be able to read a card when one is in it. I...

Re: My ACR38 issues
You should install the newest driver from http://www.acs.com.hk/drivers-manual.php?driver=ACR38 Choose either the MSI Installer for PC/SC or just the PC/SC driver if you want to install it yourself. Pick the one for your OS, of course. Thanks, that is what I did. I did have to tell Windows to use t...

Re: My ACR38 issues
Check the task manager for devicescan2.exe As soon as I fire up Resscan the task manager does show devicescan2.exe starting up. ResScan uses the standard PC/SC protocol to communicate with the ACR38. The ACR38 can also use ACs's proprietary protocol, but that requires a different driver. Are you sa...
