Try cutting your pressure down. Or, changing the machine to a pure cpap mode.
Your machine may be battling those leaks in apap mode. As you have a leak, the pressure goes up to compensate, and so on.

Re: Severe nasal congestion/ allergies
Try adjusting your humidifier settings. Bump it up a little.
Your nose will clog if the humidity is not quite right. Which also means you need to adjust as the seasons change.
It's worth a shot.

That mask is HUGE.
Try a smaller size.

Re: Unknown Sleep Disorder
Marshall, You say your wife is on CPAP. Is the therapy working? What are her AHI scores? What pressure is the machine set to? Maybe she is using the machine, but it is actually keeping her awake? I mean, the pressure just may let her get to deep sleep? The body may need sleep. Does she sleep during ...

Re: CPAP – Struggling and needing suggestions
I find it odd that you were initially on 10-13 pressure, and then it was changed to a flat 12. What does that accomplish? OMG. If you did that, then OK. But, if a clinician or doctor did that, I would not think too highly of them...... I mean, really........that does nothing to help the situation. R...

Re: Wake up middle night itchy face AirTouchF20
Well, it seems I am doing well these days. Yes, I did have 'stuff' in the humidifier, but I just thought it was from the tap water...........ok, so yes, I sometimes was lazy and did not want to trot downstairs to get another jug! At my age, I can't see as well, so, I just figured it was the water......

Re: Just don't feel any better
Seems like you do better when you DO have mask leaks!
I would try to cut the pressure DOWN, and see how that works for you. Find out how low............you can go...........

So, here I am............. looking back at my post from 3 yr ago............... That "itch" that I was speaking of................ I knew I had posted something.. I believe now, that it was the "Philips foam" pieces floating around in the face mask. Yup, I do think so. I have a replacement machine n...

Re: New Member - Struggling With CPAP
OK, I've been there. For me, my experience was similar to you. I had all kinds of problems getting used to the machine. My first CPAP machine was just not going to work for me.......they gave me a BIPAP machine, which was a lot better.......it pauses to let you exhale. The 'mask' I speak of was thos...

Wake up middle night itchy face AirTouchF20
Just changed over to the full mask about a month ago. All is fine, cept, I wake up in the middle of the night a number of times with an ITCH on my face/nose that I just HAVE to scratch! Fortunately I have figured out that I can disconnect the hose, and reach my finger into the mask to scratch it.......

Hey, I know just how you feel. I, too, contemplated the trach - why not? Look, for me, it took me 2 years to get used to the therapy. Yup - 2 years. Now, I cannot sleep well without my mask. Still don't feel GREAT, but I definitely feel crappy if I do not use it. I have a Bi-pap machine. The continu...

Re: How often do I really need to clean tube and water chamber?
First, be sure to use distilled water. When I travel, I will just use the tap water, and yes you can smell the difference. I also place a couple of silver coins in the tub. In the old days they used to put a coin in the rain barrel to help kill germs. And, yes today they use silver impregnated seals...

Re: I still feel TERRIBLE on my CPAP - Scared it's killing me.
FWIW, I do not feel 'great', but I do feel terrible if I do NOT use my equipment. When I have a not so good night, I describe my head/eyes as "foggy" - not clear. Ask your doctor what they think should be done. Then, if they do not tell you to have another sleep test with your current equipment, I w...

Re: Help! Can't fall asleep with CPAP
It took me a long time before I got used to the machine - too long. I had to go with the BIPAP machine, for the continuous pressure was OK for inhaling, but not for exhaling. My routine now is to set the TV on and set the timer to shut off in an hour..... I find that I fall asleep in 5-10 mins. Howe...
