Re: Do I really need a local DME?

I have my prescription from my doc and a list of in network DMEs. I know I need to start calling them but I dread it. I dislike salesmen and playing games. If my insurance will pay could I get by just ordering from cpap.com? I know there are fit issues and such, but I sure would like to avoid all t...

Re: Wake-Up Pill for Excessive Sleepiness

I've taken provigil for quite a while. its very helpful in keeping me going during the day. it doesn't make you hyper, like caffine, just less sleepy...its a hard thing for me to describe. it also helps me concentrate. however, if my insurance plan didn't cover it, i absolutely could not afford it -...

Re: FFMs increasing leakage

that's true about the Afrin, it does seem to cause more problems than anything else. one thing i did also realize is that I've had a beard now for a little over a year. I keep it short, or else it itches and I tend to pull on it out of nervous habit. But, it could contribute to leaking I suppose. I ...

FFMs increasing leakage

Since I've been using a FFM I've noticed that my leakage rates seem to have increased dramatically (my doc has my card, so I don't have any specifics today). I went to a FFM due to constant stuffy nose making me feel suffocated with my nasal mask. I tried a nasal pillow mask once, but ended up with ...

ugh. fire them, if at all possible.

Re: Airline security search of my cpap machine

all the TSA knuckleheads I have run into know exactly what a CPAP is, but even though it gets sent through the x-ray machine they still swab it for explosives EVERY time i go through - usually while I see an old grandmother or handicapped person getting the 3rd degree as well. ugh. the effectiveness...

i never was very good at physics, which explains why i didnt make it far as an engineering student, but one thought: would the length of the hose affect air pressure over distance in any way due to friction? especially given the 'wavy' texture of some hoses. though, even if it didnt it might be marg...

what garbage. ugh. makes me sick. The bad news. I'm giving her the software and card reader for her birthday. She had a followup visit with her sleep doctor and I told her to find out how he felt about patients monitoring themselves. He told her ABSOLUTELY NOT. THIS IS ILLEGAL! This is a prescriptio...

sleep study summary perplexing

Well, yesterday I got a copy of the summary results of my sleep study, and I find the numbers a little perplexing. This is an old study, from a year ago. Can anyone with more experience with these take a look and see what they think? Points of interest: AHI seemingly relatively ok (5.5) Out of 114 '...
