I don't have problems with waking frequently, but I do go into REM very quickly. During my sleep study, I went into REM sleep only 10 minutes after falling asleep. My doctor suggested that I may have narcolepsy since I reach REM stage so quickly. The doctors tested for narcolepsy by performing a mul...

I'm not familiar with your current mask, but I have tried the Comfort Gel mask. I found it to be quite heavy on the face. The gel also did not seem to be as soft as I thought it should be.

This is a long rambling answer, but bear with me here. I do have a point... I think! I always used to think it took me forever to fall asleep. It was not at all unusual for me to lay in bed for an hour or more before I fell asleep. That was before I had my sleep studies and mulitiple sleep latency t...

Forehead swelling

I've been having some problems with visible swelling of my forehead since I've been using my Swift (about 2 weeks). The swelling is in an area 1 inch high by 2 inches wide, directly above the bridge of my nose and feels squishy when you touch it. The swelling seems to get worse when I sleep longer t...

If your doctor thinks CPAP is necessary, you may still be able to get your insurance to cover it. According to the Medicare guidelines most insurance companies use, my sleep apnea was not severe enough (during some stages of sleep) for me to be approved for CPAP. But because my doctor felt it was me...

I couldn't get the Comfort Curve to work at all for me. It wouldn't seal decently, no matter what size cushion I tried. There was also some significant leakage from the hose elbows and whistling from the exhaust vents. The cheek pads were also very uncomfortable for me. I tried it for about 3 hours,...

I didn't think it sounded right that I needed to pay for copies of my sleep studies. I will ask my doctor for them when I go next week. It just seems weird to me that the clinic did not provide me with some sort of written report following my sleep studies. For the price I (and my insurance) paid, I...

Charge for copy of sleep study?

Do you normally have to pay to get a copy of your sleep study? I just called my clinic to see if I could get copies of my two sleep studies. They informed me there would be a $5.00 retrieval fee and a charge of $.25 per page. I will just wait with getting the copies for now, I am going to my doctor ...

The pillow is packaged in a clear plastic bag that has purple writing on it. It says "Shapeable" in big letters across the front. Hope this helps.

Going into REM sleep too early - possible effects?

I had my first sleep study back in January. When I got the test results from my doctor, he said I go into the REM stage of sleep very quickly. Apparently I have very little sleep during stages 1-4. My doctor said many people that go into REM sleep quickly have narcolepsy, so I needed to be tested fo...

Thanks for all the great input! Since I used KY jelly on my nose last night, the nasal pillow was pretty sticky by morning. Until I figure out a better way to clean it, I think I will just slide off the clip and remove the nasal pillow daily. I was actually pretty impressed with the comfort of the S...

Cleaning the Swift

I just got my Mirage Swift today and am wondering - what is the best daily cleaning procedure for this interface? The instructions that come with the Swift suggest taking the whole barrel apart from the headgear. It seems to me like this would cause a lot of leakage at the ends of the barrel. Wouldn...

If you have the same humidifier I do, you can change the humidifier level. Turn the CPAP unit on. Hold down the humidifier button (located on the CPAP unit) until it beeps twice. You should see a number (1-5). Press the humidifier button to increase the number, press the ramp button to decrease the ...
