Re: The Aussie thread
Hi Aussiegrouch, Just a quick one, how did you find ordering from cpap.com? Was shipping reasonable? Did it work out cheaper than buying here? Have you had any warranty issues etc.?? I'm thinking about starting a bit of a mask collection (my wife isn't happy with the amount of noise the easylife ma...

Re: An Intro to the Australian Health Care System
I'm curious how many advancements in medicine originate in the profit-driven U.S. system vs. the Australian, Canadian, and other systems where profit is considered evil? Not wanting to turn this into an Australian versus American war but : Courtesy of this website: http://www.whitehat.com.au/Austra...

Re: How Much Did Your Sleep Study Cost?
Hi, Just to give you an idea of the Australian system: My sleep study in 2006 cost a total of $A603 with my contribution of $A60.00. It was held at a very reputable hospital sleep lab in Sydney with a one month waiting time. This is markedly different to the American system as far as I can see. Chee...

Re: An Intro to the Australian Health Care System
Hi, Just to add to blarg's excellent post from an Australian perspective. My wife and I are Australian aged pensioners, being over the age of 65, and qualify for the pension based on assets and income criteria. Basically all of our healthcare needs are met by Medicare as our Doctor's and hospital fe...

Re: ? about my diagnosis - "respiratory arousals"
Hi, This is an extract from: http://www.thoracic.org/sections/education/sleep-fragments/quiz/32-year-old-obese-woman-with-snoring.html "Don't get me wrong-I do not infer that you are obese!!" The new AASM scoring manual defines a respiratory effort related arousal as follows: ‘If there is a sequence...

Re: Electromagnetic Field (EMF)
Aussiegrouch, thanks for the info.I knew the machine put out allot of EMF when I tried to use my AM radio one night. I haven't read much on the subject lately, the article I read talked about clock radios and there placement next to the head , I believe EMF is a possible health hazard. Please post a...

Re: Electromagnetic Field (EMF)
Hi again, Even though my testing was rudimentary and not conducted in a Special Anechoic Chamber which blocks any ambient EMF, I checked the ambient EMF in my bedroom and it measured about 1.5mG, so one could reduce the figures in my previous post by about 1-2mg. I have an electric bed (to raise and...

Re: Electromagnetic Field (EMF)
I am quite sure that the standard you mentioned deals with the reaction of the machine to EMF as apposed to the emission of EMF from the machine. But I could be wrong....more research would be needed. According to the Respironics manual the the environment EMF is covered in Electrmagnetic Immunity ...

Electromagnetic Field (EMF)
Hi, I have been doing some checks on EMF emanating from my Respironics M series with A Flex. Using a TriField meter I detected the following results measured on the output side of the machine ie; on the humdifier side: 5 inches from the machine 30mG (Milligauss) 10 inches from the machine 15mG 24 in...
