Adding oxygen to APAP
Anyone have any experience adding oxygen to their mask? I run the APAP at 7-10.5. Now have a mycobacterium infection in my lungs and the doc directed the use of oxygen at 2.0 l/min while I sleep. I have been using a simple plastic tubing with cannula for the O2 (No CPAP). The UMFF has ports for a th...

Whew! As usual the forum members are so-o-o willing to share helpful hints, observations, etc. Thanks guys. Doctors. I think I have seen them all. PCP, pulmonologist, ENT, thyroid specialist. Even a urologist. Never mind, he was for a separate problem. Filter cleaning. Wash the foam and change the f...

Distilled water only. HC150 at 2. I originally had it at 2.5 (straight up) but the air was just too warm for comfort. And that was before the Aussie heated hose. BTW: I put a Radio Shack 9V supply on the heated hose rather that the 12V. In my environment, Hawaii mountains, it works better. Prilosec ...

PAP = throat and breathing problems. Suggestions?
Since adding the hose at night (well over a year ago) I have had continous problems, coughing and trouble with deep breathing. My PCP has run me through various ultrasound, CT, MRI ... looking for possiblilites. Everything (including a treadmill stress test) has come back acceptable for a 66YO. So, ...

All the technological advances over the years have made life easier, no doubt. But I think we have lost something also. Life was simpler years ago. Maybe it was the need for peace and quiet after living through WWII but I am convinced people of the day lived at a higher moral/ethical level. If a 9yo...

Okay children. Nostalga is fun. And listening to the age brackets compare, "I remember when..." is interesting But how many of you remember - Before automatic transmissions, power steering or power brakes on automobiles? Before radial ply tires? Manual defrosting a refrigerator? (In fact Ole lady Sl...

Are you sure it's sweat? If its inside the mask it would more likely be condensaton of the moisture coming through the tube. Especially if you are using a humidifier. Pressure and/or cooling will wring moisture out of the air. Answer to that is covering the tube with a fleece or blanket type of fabr...

May not help much with the "comparison angle" but my experience with the Ultra Mirage fullface mask has been good. ( I am a 24/7 mouth breather due to deviated septum, enlarged tubinates, and just narrow airway according to the ENT I saw. So nasal anything doesn't work for me.) I am also on the bord...

Aussie heated hose - my 2¢
I found the Sleepzone, and the Fischers, to be "one of the good guys". (Kinda like Johnny and CPAP.com) 1. When they recieved my on-line order, Don emailed me wanting to check and verify that I had ordered the correct set-up for my system. 2. I replied and asked if they could make the sensor tube a ...

Grew up on standard box springs(No, not straw in a gunny sack. I'm not that old.). Wife and I had the same for years. Tried a single bladder water bed. With me at ~200 and her at <125 when I got in or rolled over, she got out. Had a dual bladder, multi baffle system after that. It was the best of th...

WWIW: I had been having night sweats virtually every night, with occasional chills after, for years. No change after months of CPAP.. What did help was a visit with a pulmonologist. He suggeted my acid reflux (Known about for 10+ years but not treated other than Tums.)as a possible cause for my: per...

Amen! I have no objection to celebrating other religion's holidays but the whole point of Christmas is the Christian's birth of Jesus Christ. What's wrong with that? (This from someone who gave up on Christiananty, and other religions, some years ago). BTW: Spent my senior year of high school in Tho...
