if you feel under the front of the unit you should feel a lip. If you put your fingers under that lip and the thumb of your left hand on the top of the humidifier and kina pull straight up it should lift up. It was tough the first time I did it. There are two prongs underneath it that go straight up...

Thanks for the info Jim. I've been taping AND using a chinstrap to make sure no air is leaking into my mouth too. Leaks seem to be good based on my lower leak rate than the mask says there should be.
