I can always tell that it is out of water because I start smelling hot (not quite a burning smell) plastic in my mask. I assume this is coming from the now heating up plastic water tank. I'm thinking that I could avoid having to clean / replace the filters on my Remstar if I could modify the machine to allow me to attach a Respirator HEPA filter. The respirator HEPA filter would be no more restrictive than the factory filters and would last for a long long time. Any thoughts?

Hi, Sorry to hear about your job loss. I would look on Craigslist.com for a machine. I went looking for a backup and found a brand new Remstar Plus with humidifier for $150.00. There are great deals to be had on machines if you look around a bit. Good luck on your job search.
