Run out of water, Then hot plastic smell
I have a RemStar machine with humidifier. Sometimes if I sleep in, the humidifier runs out of water. I can always tell that it is out of water because I start smelling hot (not quite a burning smell) plastic in my mask. I assume this is coming from the now heating up plastic water tank. Is this norm...

Any Techie Modify CPAP filter to use HEPA Respirator Filter?
I'm thinking that I could avoid having to clean / replace the filters on my Remstar if I could modify the machine to allow me to attach a Respirator HEPA filter. The respirator HEPA filter would be no more restrictive than the factory filters and would last for a long long time. Any thoughts?

Strange thing
I have the basic RemStar series M CPAP machine the DME is charging my insurance company $110 / month to rent. (go figure). I was diagnosed a month ago with CSA but I know I have OSA too. The sleep lab titrated me at 12 cm/h2o. When I go to bed, the pressure is difficult to exhale against but after I...

The filter on every CPAP I've seen is nowhere near fine enough to stop airborne spores, and nearly all of them have a significant amount of bypass in their designs, to allow flow. I don't think that this is true. At least for my Remstar M series, the manufacturer claims that the white ultrafine fil...

"I am an electronic engineer (read geek)" I would agree that you are a geek. Why would you want to go through all that rrouble to replicate or repair a $300 machine, which is what you have. You might be able to duplicate a circuit board that may look similar but unless you have access to proprietar...

Re: Why does this board keep logging me out?
I am having terrible trouble with this board. I log in and I immediately get another page offering to let me log in. Or I'll be logged in and doing something like composing a response to a PM and when I go to post it, Voila' , it disappears because I am not logged in anymore. I have experienced thi...

Not so much of a problem
You would be better off building one from scratch. first you get a tank vacume cleaner, the........ The companies that make them will sell you no parts. Jim The companies that make them buy the parts from other companies that will sell them to you like TI, Analog Devices, Linear, Freescale Semicond...

Re: Any schematics for Remstar
I am an electronic engineer (read geek), and I would like to have the ability to repair my own CPAP. The basic CPAP (constant pressure presumably via constant motor speed on the fan) would seem to be a pretty simple device. It's probably something like an H-Bridge motor control but I don't know. I ...

Software
Hi Gerald,
Thanks for the insight. Do we know that the software is officially going away or is this just a rumor? If we know it is going away, when? Thanks.

Fyrpit......If I were you, I'd make my move to get the software....very quickly. When I saw the door closing, I purchased a copy of version 1.8....and now, it's no longer available. Why is the software going away??? And although I don't advocate pirate software, if the manufacturer wants to pull it...

Look on Craigslist
Hi, Sorry to hear about your job loss. I would look on Craigslist.com for a machine. I went looking for a backup and found a brand new Remstar Plus with humidifier for $150.00. There are great deals to be had on machines if you look around a bit. Good luck on your job search.
