Re: use of cpap machine at hiigh altitude
Thanks, that was going to be my next question as to how they counted as a carry on. I"m flying Southwest which seems to be pretty liberal about these things.

use of cpap machine at hiigh altitude
I have not asked a question for a year or two, maybe longer, and know this has been asked and answered, but I can't seem to find the answer to the question---Do I need to make any adjustment to my machine when I go to Denver next month? I live in Indiana. My machine is set at 9 with a max of 16. The...

Good old chap stick does the trick for me. Also, curl your lips in before taping so you are not putting the tape directly on your lips. good luck.

Re: new optilife mask,( I think) will it adversely change things
I think I can donate the masks given to me by the VA but not trade or sell them. We are given equipment and usually sign documents that we will not sell it on ebay or any other forum. We get things like BP cuffs, home traction machines, oximeters, etc... I appreciate the suggestion and I hope someon...

Re: Why so mean?
Hey, I've been blasted by some people for just asking a question. Once I got a response from someone saying they were tired of my complaining or words to that effect. I chose to ignore it. I only ask cpap related questions and stay on topic. Even some of the grouches give good advice. I just assume ...

Re: Is it safe to tape mouth to prevent mouth leaks?
Been taping for 4 years + with 3" micropore surgical tape. AHI o.0 this a.m. always below 1.0. Even when power goes off, I am able to breathe through vent holes plus an alarm sounds on my machine that wakes me up also. Never had a problem. Good luck.

new optilife mask,( I think) will it adversely change things
Hey guys, me again. I got new mask from the VA again after requesting one for quite some time. I've been using the optilife with and 8" tube for about 4 years. They keep sending me Swift Mirage II masks, which I've never used. I have a stack of them, unopened. They don't want them back. I guess I wi...

Re: leak rate going up VA won't help: update and thank you
Thanks Spirit. The Polmo dr. at the Indy VA quit and they don't have a replacement. I but the clinics constantly. They are actively trying to not schedule the older guys (I'm 61). I'm supposed to be seen in endo every 3 mos. If I don't follow through, they won't schedule the appt. I'm a first name b...

leak rate going up VA won't help: update and thank you
To those kind people who responded to my request for help--- My new 7 day avg. leak rate is 32.1 with an AHI of 0.2. The acceptable leak rate for this mask is, I think, around 35, so, pretty good. It was, indeed, a leak, as adeptly pointed out by one very astute member of this panel. I found it, rem...

Re: lost weight - do i still need cpap / apap?
Mimi--congratulations on the wt loss. I used nutri-system to start. I was on a salt restricted diet. I lost 20 lbs quickly. I then realized I could do a better job with less sodium on my own without the expensive nutti system meals. I also load up on fruits and vegetables but avoid starchy vegetable...

Re: rising leak rate, would like help, VA won't help
Pugsy--- I do have a friend who is a doctor. If all I need is a script then it's no problem if I'm paying cash. I'm sure Anthem won't pay for it since they have no idea of the sleep study done by the VA about 10 years ago. I forgot to mention that from the time I had the sleep study until I got my m...

Re: rising leak rate, would like help, VA won't help
When I checked this a.m. the machine said leak rate 22.4. Then when I checked an hour later, it was 46.6, which was down (7 day avg. ) from the day before. This makes sense regarding the updating by the machine not being done yet. But, thanks to the replies I've received, and how to check for a leak...

Re: rising leak rate, would like help, VA won't help
DoriC---The VA tech in the CPAP Clinic told me that giving me the information on my card was "not in my best interest." They will read the card if I mail it to them. They said they will send me a new card. I know it makes no sense but that's the way it is. I have private health insurance too, but th...

Re: lost weight - do i still need cpap / apap?
I have lost 40 pounds since starting CPAP. My pressure went down from 14 to 16 to 9.8 or less. My AHI is consistently .2 or less. Whenever I have fallen asleep without my machine, I have felt like the pre CPAP days--- groggy and with brain fog. I have had sleep apnea since my late 20's. My wife woul...

Re: rising leak rate, would like help, VA won't help
Don: The software I have is ENCORE PRO 1.8.49. The machine name I have on my profile is taken directly from the owner's manual and from what is on the machine. I have an LCD screen that I check every morning. The software was kindly sent to me by a very nice person along with a links and owner's man...
