there's obviously difference's between labs here in canada and labs there, all I can say is it's too bad we're not closer!

dllfo, and everyonefollowing this tread! can we just summerize here! as an RPSGT the advise that we give in the sleep lab is to bleed O2 through the CPAP outlet, not through the mask (like we used to do ) it's because it gives a better mix. Do not change the O2 level, this is prescribed by your phys...

we use the hoffstein as a starting pressure and titrate from there. usually it's not far out. but positional and REM related increases need to be taken into consideration. we find that people that end up needing a higher pressure acclimatize better starting at their Hoffstein rather than wasting tim...

based on what you've said, it sounds like your pressure is too high, but I'm noticing this trend since being on this site. here in canada, we can't put someone on Bi pap with having a failed CPAP . when the pressure gets too high, it can stimulate centrals, also some pt's have what we refer to as sleep onset centrals, which are irrelevant unless they are associated with Sp02 desat's, then you titrate from a desat point. Hope this is helpful.

ok please understand I am a canadian tech here given my input!!!! we under no circumstances put a pt on bi-pap unless they've had a failed CPAP, I know it's different in the states because the insurance companies are paying BUT on what you have told me their is NO WAY your pressure should be this hi...

Hi Linda, Just as a tip. Instead of removing the mask. Turn the machine of and then start it again pressing the ramp button, this should help you get over this period.
