There are the palatine tonsils at the back of throat and a lesser-known set down in your throat by the back of your tongue. I never knew they existed either. The 1st doc went over the films with me and showed where the mass of the tonsils was pressing on and closing up my airway. The 2nd opinion doc...

Wow, I wasn't aware that somnoplasty could only be temporary. That must be why my local doctors don't seem to be doing it anymore. I guess I'll have to get another opinion or two on my lingual tonsilectomy. My original ENT said it is very delicate and I have to stay in the hospital overnight to moni...

Yeah, I guess my issue though is that the enlarged tonsils are causing my apnea, at least according to my original ENT doctor. I wouldn't want it done speicifically to cure apnea but to reduce the mass of the tonsils, thus possibily eliminating apnea and other breathing problems.

Somnoplasty

Anyone know anything about or had somnoplasty done? I was diagnosed with enlarged lingual tonsils and laser surgery was recommended. The prospect of pain and a traecheotomy really make me leary of that surgery. So, I did some research and found somnoplasty. I used ther 'find a doctor' tool and found...

So, it sounds like since the machine is showing an average of 2, the therapy is working. I'm still waiting to feel better though. Is this as good as it gets on a CPAP/APAP machine? That's still 14 disturbances a night when I sleep my 7 hours.

What is AHI?

I've had my M series unit for a couple weeks now and scrolled through the screens on it this morning. One of them list a 7-day average AHI of 2.0. Is that statistic the number of apnea events per hour? My machine also lists a 90% pressure of 7.9.

Just an update - I put on my mask last night and immediately had the strange sound and feeling from it. I took the hose off the machine and went to the tub and held it straight up. Maybe a tablespoon of water quickly jetted out. I plugged the hose back in and all was normal. I also took out the wate...

I didn't even know that you could or should insulate your tube. I will check into that. We are approaching our humid season here in Buffalo, plus I like it cool in my room while I sleep. I suppose those couple of factors may have contributed. I'll likely sleep tonight with the humidifier off and see...

Remstar M Series problem/questions

My new M Series unit with CFLEX and heated humidifier had been working fine. The night before last, I woke up in the middle of the night as I always do several times. I was hearing a whistling sound from my mask or tubing or something. I couldn't figure it out so I took the whole thing off and turne...

Thanks for the input. I might try a minimum setting of 6 or 7 like restedgal said. It should be noted that I bought my equipment from cpap.com. The DME I was dealing with offered little or no support and a bottom of the line unit. I did not feel like I was benefitting from the CPAP machine at 8 and ...

Remstar settings and CFLEX/AFLEX

I just got a new Remstar Auto M Series and had my first night on it last night. I left all the settings on defaults and slept fairly well actually. The pressure range in auto mode is 4-12. My sleep study doctor had recommended a setting of 8 on a CPAP. Should I set this machine's minimum pressure to...

OK, I went and looked and saw that this S8 is the BOTTOM end with really no features. SO, I found this M series unit: https://www.cpap.com/productpage-bundle ... undle.html

Look good?

So the S8 Compact is a low end machine? They told me I was getting the best available when I talked to them. I think I might take some advice and look for one online and then return this thing. It's OK but I want more for my money. Some people are mentioning things like smart card, software, etc. I ...

I do hear a different sound from the machine when I exhale so it must be doing something. I'll try raising it more gradually like you suggested.

I have no indea what cflex even is. I have a Resmed S8 Compact.

I went back to my pressure of 8 last night and experienced no aerophasia. I still wake up quite often, which is getting REALLY old. I'm just hoping the apnea is gone and I am just adjusting to the mask.
