Re: International Travel - Travel to Germany

An extension cord is another 'take-a-long' as you never know where the nearest plug is.

Here's my experience: JFK - Jet Blue - you need to bring it out for inspection. JFK - American - no signs, no questions, it was in my carry-on. London Eurostar - I mentioned that I had a CPAP but they didn't ask to visually inspect it but did acknowledge seeing it in the X-Ray. Paris - CDG - America...

I just returned from London and Paris including traveling on the Eurostar. I carried my CPAP in my carry-on but not in its own case. JFK: they paid no attention to the CPAP, they were more interested in my artificial knee. Eurostar: I was able to warn them of its presence in my bag and they said, yu...

The set of nasal pillows with the holes belongs to the original Swift. The set of nasal pillows without the holes belongs to the Swift II where the relief holes are in the frame.

You are completely sane but you should be using the pillows that go with the rest of your mask.

I have found that my sleep is not nearly as good in the summer with higher temperatures and higher humidity. I have turned my humidifier down to "1" and that has eliminated the rainout (my machine has always been below the top of the mattress). I can hardly wait for winter when I can keep my bedroom...

In my experience, 1. Apria only carries the Remstar Plus 2. Apria does not require a signature on the equipment they send out 3. Apria does not send a RT to teach you how to use the machine, you must go to one of their offices where you are given a 15 minute slot. They do not fit masks. I was shown ...

I think there are a couple of branches of Apria that actually provide service. They mistakenly hire competent people occasionally. Unfortunately, they haven't done that at their Milford, CT branch. I did manage to order a new mask and white filters and received those a few days later. Unfortunately,...

Apria billed CIGNA $440.00 for Remstar Plus M series (including hose, filters, etc). They billed $218.75 for the humidifier. They billed $60 for the Swift Nasal Pillows and $28 for the headgear. Since insurance only pays a 'certain' amount, I wonder if they didn't bill them for a ridiculously high p...

Too bad HealthComplex.bix doesn't accept CIGNA. Any company that is willing to put as much information on the web as they have interests me. I'm still stuck with the CIGNA-APRIA (Milford) combination.

My six month 'anniversary' is a few days away. Several weeks ago I ordered a new mask, a new hose, foam filters and white filters. I promptly received the new mast and the white filters. For me, a form letter and an automatic phone call would be a 100% increase over prior service. They won't be gett...

I'm not a scientist and I'm not very knowledgeable about CPAP's (just enough to get by) but humidity in general in Florida is quite high and I wonder if any humidifier could raise the humidity is that kind of situation. Just brainstorming here. I hope you find a satisfactory solution soon. I would s...

I have a Remstar M series and I would like to see it miniaturized with the power supply housed within the unit. There are too many wires on the exterior of the unit that have to be bundled. It looks messy although it seems to work well.

If the DME is Apria (or probably any other DME) and they don't give you what you want, walk out and use our host. Give your local guy a chance but don't accept less than the machine you want. I didn't find this site until too late.

Sam of NY, I had similar issues with Apria (Milford/Cromwell CT branch) and Cigna. My sleep doctor prescribed a ResMed machine and Apria would only supply the basic Remstar machine. They indicated they had shipped a machine and when the time passed, I asked for a proof of delivery and then they admi...

My doctor prescribed a specific machine. My insurance (CIGNA) only does business with Apria. Apria refused to supply the specific machine, only the most basic Remstar. I tried going out of network but none of the DME's in my area would accept CIGNA. So, I got my mask in the mail and had to drive 35 ...
