If nothing else, the S9 is the quietest machine ever. I am not sure how it can be so quiet. Add that to your equation if noise is a factor

6 seems awfully low to me but as you know jab, I am a novice at this myself. I would sure consider upping it to 7-8 to start and would not tape yet. I have, on occasion, done a little open mouth stuff and it sounds weird. But give it more than 1 night before doing anything major.

You do need a card reader and its proprietary. I would think they would still have 1.6 available when you are ready and probably 1.x. I would be inclined to wait were it me. Worse comes to worse, I bet you can get a pirated copy from a friend.
