This thread should probably be put in one about the "hybrid" but I'm certainly glad to get more info about it! The hybrid leaks for me around the mouthpiece (nasal fit is fine and no leaks there), so I'm not sure that cutting the chin flap would help me. My problem is that even with the large mouthp...

Mouth-breathing vs mouth-leaking
CollegeGirl: I think (and read on one of the forums) there's a difference between mouth breathing like you describe it, and mouth leaking. In my case, even if I tape my mouth, air from the CPAP still rushes into my mouth, puffing my cheeks out like a blowfish (very attractive, by the way), and has a...

I have watched the Hybrid video several times, and believe I'm doing all the adjustments correctly. Is there something specific you've found that helps?
Thanks,
Tom

Can increasing pressure reduce mouth leaks?
After trying nasal pillows and after about a month finding my mouth was blowing all the air into the room, I've tried this and that with no success (full face hurts my nose) (Hybrid leaks). My DME (what does that stand for?) finally suggested I increase my pressure from 6 to 8 to force air down my a...

Sorry I'm a beginner with this terminology. Does .3 water mean your machine must be at a "3" (whatever that is)?
Thanks,
Tom

My manual says exactly what yours does. The graph also shows 60 at 15.
Does that mean I have the new one or the old one?
Thanks,
Tom

Did I get the new Hybrid?
Hi: Just received my Hybrid from cpap.com, and the front page of the manual says "the deadspace associated with this mask is less than 125 cm." below the graph. The headgear is black on the outside and gray on the inside. I can't tell if the exhalation ports are smaller than, well, than the larger o...

2 Good Nights!
Well, to check in, I've had two good nights with the Ace bandage wrapped horizontaly around my mouth and cheeks! I'm using the nasal pillows, which also are working fine.
Wish me luck on night three, and thank you for all the helpful people on this board. I appreciate all your posts.

Thank you all
Thank you all for the very helpful suggestions. For tonight I'm going to go back to my nasal pillows and try something I read somewhere -- fastening a 2" Ace bandage around my mouth and cheeks (horizontally, not like a chin strap). That might stop both the mouth leakage and the blowfish effect. I ju...

Blowfishing
Yes, I thought the ComfortFull 2 Full Face Mask would stop the blowfishing. Maybe I need to give it a few more nights with the bandaid-on-nose thing. I have back molars missing and I think the air just rushes in from the mask and out of my mouth.

Blowfish Needs Mask
Hi: I really need some advice! I've been trying CPAP a few months, started with a Mirage Swift ResMed thing with nasal pillows but after a month I started "mouth-leaking" and then having my cheeks fill up with air (the Blowfish part). Tried taping my mouth, so had no mouth leakage, but still was blo...

Let's not get on a vomiting sidetrack
Thanks for the input, all:
Again, I'm NOT worried about vomiting. Just about rebreathing CO2 if the power goes off.
Thanks,
Tom

Taping Mouth and rebreathing CO2?
Hi: I'm a mouth-breather and about to give up on CPAP, but read about mouth-taping as a solution. Not worried about vomiting and dying, but there was one post (can't find any more) about: What happens if your CPAP stops working (say, a power outage), your mouth is taped, and you start "rebreathing" ...
