Re: SmartStart - yes or no?
My new AirSense 10 has confused me a bit about where the proper controls are for auto-on/off, so the first night was bad. The User Guide that came with the unit listed some important features that could only be set by the *care provider. The Airsense has two different levels of user mode that is ex...

Re: SmartStart - yes or no?
Until this week I'd been using a very old RemStar CPAP machine that was quite noisy. It had auto-on/auto-stop and I like the convenience a lot. My new AirSense 10 has confused me a bit about where the proper controls are for auto-on/off, so the first night was bad. The User Guide that came with the ...

Re: Hospital stays and CPAP
I had emergency gall bladder surgery a few months ago and during the pre-surgery interview about medications & conditions, I told them I used a CPAP machine. The surgeon said "have someone bring it to you right away" so I did. My friend brought it to the room and the nurse just showed him where to p...

Blarg?
Blarg,
I miss the pic of you in Australia (I think that was the opera house behind you).
So why did your dad think you shouldn't have a sleep study?

Diagnosed 5 months ago just after my 60th birthday. In the initial exam and interview, the sleep doc said I've probably had it since I was a child. I have an overbite, small jaw, and large tongue. Used to have this particular dream frequently as a child; I was swimming underwater, holding my breath,...

Disappointing first follow-up
Visited my sleep Doc for the first time since receiving my CPAP. I've been extremely pleased with the benefits and have FABULOUS compliance. And, thanks to this board, I've overcome some difficulties. But my Doc is not so sharp. I told her that I have 'lip flutter' and that I've been taping. So she ...

The data will be erased from the card by the Encore Pro software unless you instruct it to "prompt...". There is a "Preferences" button at the top right area of the main screen (from memory - it may be elsewhere). BEFORE you insert your SmartCard, go to Preferences and click the checkbox to "prompt ...

Blarg, I just discovered that little drop-down USB menu yesterday! I noticed that it said "auto-connect off". Is that why we have to manually activate the port? Is there a good reason NOT to auto-activate? Where's the setting for that? I installed the Encore Pro on my big beast Mac Pro (in Parallels...

Parallels users
So many Mac folks - I feel right at home!
Does anyone else have trouble maintaining the USB connection to the SmartCard reader? That's been the only issue, and I think my procedure of plugging it all in first works, but I've only tried it twice (noobie).

Parallel Tools
NightHawkeye, you figured it out before I got to answering your message! Once you get the "Parallel Tools" installed, all sorts of features of your hardware are set up automatically. Also, for those that have called this "emulation", that's not actually what's happening. Virtual PC is an emulator, s...

Macintosh success with Encore Pro 1.8i
I've installed and used the latest version of Respironic's Encore Pro software (v 1.8i) with the Infineer USB card reader on two of my Apple Mac systems. On my old iMac G4, using Virtual PC, it installed and ran just fine. On my Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo it installed fine in the Parallels virtualiza...

First follow-up coming
I've only been on CPAP for a little less than a month (doing well) and my sleep Doc asked me to bring the smartcard with me for my first follow-up in a couple of weeks.
I'll see if I can get tips on reading the data - I've ordered the card reader and software.
