Re: OT I'll show you my hills, if you show me yours

I drove my turbocharged Miata 160 miles today. Does that count? It WAS in the mountains.

Re: Help for a newby friend. Kind of urgent!

As you probably know, nothing means much of anything until you get the leaks under control. My snores go up when my pressure is set too low, but this could be caused by the leaks. If it were me I would concentrate on the leaks, and then fine-tune the rest of it.

Re: transitioning from cpap to apap

Exactly. Like I said above I started at 7, which wasn't doing the job. After I found this group and bought the reader and software I started increasing my perssure, .5cm at a time, using that setting for at least a week. My AHI steadily went down. When I got to 10.5 it started going up again. I went...

Re: transitioning from cpap to apap

I had fun doing this. My sweet spot is 10.5, and the APAP confirmed this. I think I started with a setting of 8-12. I usually leave my settings for a week before changing them. I found that if the low setting is too low my AHI would go up because of the time it takes the machine to react. It was goo...

Re: alternative to Mirage Swift

I went from a Swift to a Headrest and haven't looked back. I sleep on either side without any leaks, and the exhaust blows backwards, so it never hits me in the face. I love this mask!

Re: Holy cow, y'all were right about DME's.....

You REALLY want a data capable machine. Luckily I got one and didn't know it. My titrated pressure was 7. When I found this group and bought the software and reader I found that my AHI was in the high teens. It should be 5 or less. I gradually increased my pressure and found my sweet spot to be 10.5...

Re: Possible that I would need a different pressure every night?

I also recommend an Auto machine so that you're better able to keep up with things. I was titrated at 7 and was still getting used to the mask when I found this group. I bought the software and reader and found that my AHI was in the teens. I would have never known, and the VA was not going to help ...

My Auto machine goes to a higher pressure when I'm on my back. At fixed pressure my AHI is higher on my back. Could it be that your machine is set a little high for side sleeping and your AHI would go down if you lowered it?

About the smell: Check your electrical outlets. I had this smell intermittently in our kitchen. One was going bad and I finally found it. It was all charred and the wall around it was warm. This may be happening to one in your bedroom, maybe the one closest to your CPAP. If so, replace the outlet NO...

Blonde was called into her boss's office and sees two golf balls on his desk. Asked what they were. "Golf balls" says he, in a tone that made her think she should have known what they were without asking. A few weeks later she sees two more golf balls on his desk. Not wanting him to think she was st...

If you can keep from mouth breathing and are able to use nasal pillows, you really need to try a Headrest. Mine (with the rubber band mod) works much better for me than the Swift did.

Let's say that I have a brand new CFlex with ZERO hours. Will you trade me even for your 'Used" AFlex? Didn't think so. I think you got a great deal, even though the DME was less than totally honest. Did you also get the upgraded humidifier? If so, another bonus.

Datalogging is the most important thing you can do, other than using the machine every night. The sleep lab missed my titration, and I was floating along with AHIs in the high teens until I found this group. I go to the VA, and they didn't seem to care about my AHI. They didn't even really care if I...

Yes! About 6 months in, after discovering this group, buying the software, and greatly lowering my AHI, I remember a the first weekend where I had lots of energy. I went around doing lots of jobs that I had put off because I had been too tired to do them. It was Sunday afternoon before I realized ho...

Before you go PLEASE take the time to find out which machines are fully data capable and which ones aren't. Some "data capable" machines only measure compliance and give no meaningful information. If you're going to be serious about this you don't want to get stuck with one of these. You might as we...
