I have a carbon filter on my drinking water and use that water for the humidifier.
Once a month I clean it with Limeaway and it goes a whole lot faster than vinegar. JMHO.
Removing lime with vinegar is like trying to kill weeds in your lawn with that safe to use stuff from the hardware store.

When you get home, run your little hose inside the big hose and do away with those crappy clippy thingys. Start by cutting off one end of the little hose and toss it. Limeaway for cleaning
I've been using Limeaway to clean my humifider and nasal mask for going on 2 years. Wash with dish soap after and rinse well. It doesn't harm the plastic, silicone, or comfort gel pad.
