The new ResMed Quattro full-face mask...any feedback??
Hello all, I searched for a topic on these and didn't find one. ResMed has released a new full-face mask back in May; the Quattro. I was using the Ultra Mirage and found that to be the best FF mask for myself as well as my patients, but still have issues with mask leaks. As soon as the Quattro was r...

Hi Gary, I'm in agreement with most everything here. First off, before you look for anything too drastic in change (although being able to track your progress with the software is a good thing to be able to do). Give your body a chance to adjust to that pressure...14 cm H2O of pressure is no joke. I...

BTW, nice catch on the REM to NREM arousals SAG....that shoulda stuck out like a sore thumb.....ah well. I noticed your spontaneous arousals grew considerably i...

one thing that caught my eye was the line about 77 destats & the lowest desat being 91% ? My 1st reaction is that if the Spo2 is over 90, surely that isn't a desat. This leads me to ask the experts who know, just what constitutes a desat ? DSM A scorable desaturation is a 4% drop in saturation. So ...

Re: Question for the techs out there
Been dealing with this stuff for ten years as a patient, but still so much to learn. Can you help me understand how the tests interpret a situation where an arousal is recorded when an obstructive event is happening simultaneously to a PLMD movement? I'm speaking of times when either would have hap...

Ok if they flip the two back and forth (snoring and RERA) then yes I would assume that's what it would be. I gotta say this is a well informed group on here, I was hesitant to use the term RERA earlier not wanting to confuse ya more than I did. So yea a RERA (respiratory effort related arousal) is a...

Sandy, The first thing that jumps out at me is your Sleep Latency doesn't add up. The sum of total wake time, total sleep time and your sleep latency should equal your total recording time (or total study time), but perhaps they are using unequivical sleep as their sleep latency. To answer your ques...

As far as the dry mouth issue, my first question is are you using heated humidity with your machine. I don't run a patient without it. If you do perhaps you need to increase the setting a little bit. Try that and see if that reduces your dry mouth issue. With the drooling, I honestly used to drool a...

Its not just truckers......its everyone. Sleep apnea costs this country millions and millions of dollars a year, if you don't believe me...think about it. It absolutely amazes me how many people believe they can survive just fine on only a few hours of sleep. Did you know that a person's reflexes an...

A MSLT is not a definitive test for narcolepsy? I had one done and found that I went into REM sleep in less than 5 minutes in 4 out of 5 naps....and I dreamed in those naps too. I thought that was pretty definitive. Plus, I get this weird feeling in my hands---they go weak..usually in response to s...

I completely agree with the above reply in the fact that if your AHI is at 3.8 your doing pretty good. I'm curious if you know what your AHI was during your diagnostic study and if this is a huge improvement. A normal adult will have an AHI of 0-5. So if your falling asleep 6-7 times a day I wouldn'...
