Re: What is an acceptable Apnea level ?
Hiya, I started at 99+, with O2 sat of 38% (OMG). Some of you mention changes after some positive results. I would first like to know my nightly rates, and second like to learn how and when to make adjustments. So let's start with the rates... where will I find this data (resmed), and is there a tea...

Update: air leaking around Ultra Mirage Mask
Sorry not certain of my original title... I complained of massive air leakage from all around the mask. I found the problem and fixed. Turns out neither of the port caps were attached... so of course air was pouring oout those little holes. Must be that leakage is difficult to pinpoint... I have suc...

Re: Traveling with C-Pap
It's a good idea to obtain a letter from your doctor stating you need the machine for a medical condition (just in case). I have been normally passed through security, and had the machine tested for any explosives and drugs (took about 15 minutes), but never stopped. Since now airlines are severely ...

Re: Huge airflow out vents in mask and vents at elbow
The high setting is 17.8... low is 7. Not sure where to find the mask leak data. This problem occurred actually during the sleep study a few months ago... I discovered the machine was set for nasal and reset it for full face mask and the problem went away. Now it is back. The pressure so great the m...

Huge airflow out vents in mask and vents at elbow
Hello gang! I use an Autoset spirit ll (Resmed), and Mirage full face mask (large). My problem is that the air flow is so great that it blows not only out the mask vents but also out the vents at the elbow near the hose fitting. The pressure is so great it can blow up my mouth. Feels like something ...

seeking 'experts'
My experience with sleep centers/studies/MD's has been mixed. Certainly I appreciate the healing!! The living!! But the place was so busy took over 6 months to get the study done and so forth... then another 3 months adjusting to and selecting the right mask, etc. Though I was required to revisit th...

My diagnosis
Two things stood out as a result of my sleep study: my incidence was 99+ episodes/hour, my O2 sat was below 40. As I said previously, I was literally being killed in my sleep. My heart was racing, fluids were being shunted off, and I was well on the way to diabetes. Not a pretty picture at all. I al...

breathing with bpap
My experience in the now with the machine is that it begins the in breath long before I actually take the in breath... and if I block it off it will persist with its in breath... this is the biggest problem I am having. The length of out breath is 'cut off' but the machine's in breath cycle (sorry f...

Reply to Rested
My recollection of the less than a minute discussion with the nurse who made the settings did not include any 'comfort' settings... you are probably correct that she had no clue they existed. Is my machine supposed to adjust itself to my breathing patterns? Besides duration of both in and out breath...

Enhanced?
That work does not appear... and I cannot find any reference to s/t on the casing. As for the alphabet soup, not really no... but I do not wish to change the clinical settings just now... only the 'comfort' settings. I live right on Loch Ness... little village on the hill side. Incredibly beautiful!...

My oh my... thanks huge!
Well... balancing on the new language of respirations, I can feel myself swooning more than a wee bit. (not a Scot but a Welshman spying on the Lochs). I think part of my problem is that I am a classical singer... my breathing patterns reflect a huge volume... so deep and long like the river. As a s...

VPAP lll problems
Thanks so much for this site and all the wonderful help! I have enjoyed reading and learning. After almost dying, I was diagnosed with 99+ episodes per hour (ouch). After normal adjustments to the machine and masks, I began to heal and am now at the 'mental zest' stage of health. I have lost @ 80 po...
