Re: Hollywood activism

Anyone have any connections with writers or producers?

…a little Hollywood activism.

Thanks, Ellen. I greatly appreciate your experience and Rested Gal and snoregirl's, too. Now, for my cynical side: I don't see much use in pushing for a confirmation from my doc that he'll do one thing or the other down the road, because I doubt that "confirmation" would prevent him from doing whate...

jules, good idea about the gauze. If essential oils get into the barrel material itself, it would be really hard to get them out if you found the effect too intense. Probably a good idea to keep the swift as clean and neutral as possible. Dr. Bronner's is a blast from the past for me, Chuck. I had f...

GoofyUT, Interesting idea. I was going to ask for some advice on cleaning my swift. I've only been on treatment for three nights, but so far with really good results. I've been comfortable with the swift with only a minor annoyance (which is already fading) of a bit of a "new car smell." Is Olbas es...

Thanks much for the input "Sleepless in St. Louis" and to snoregirl I want to say, don't think I don't appreciate you're viewpoint. In fact a major source of the patience I'm having with my doc's approach is the comfort level that comes from knowing I have this forum as a resource. Believe me, I'll ...

And to Linda and elliejose, yes, we have a titration study scheduled in a couple of weeks (a few days less than that now), but I'm going to find out if he'll move that up given the fact that I've acclimated so well to the mask, etc. By the way, I did wake up once last night... stirred by some weird,...

Again, thanks everyone for the thoughts. To snoregirl: how does one decide if a doc is trying to set up too many office visits? how many is too many? how many is not enough? Would I feel better if he followed a simpler script, handed me an auto machine and told me to read my own data and call him in...

I did ask about that snoregirl. I guess his response could be boiled down to this: (not an exact quote) he'd rather get the mask right first. He feels strongly that he's seen many more people struggle (or give up) over mask issues than over adjustments to their pressure. And yes, the pressure was a ...

My doc did give me a copy of the summary of the report after going over the full report with me in a fair amount of detail. He also gave me a copy of my prescription and applauded me for taking notes during the appointment and for coming to the appt. already informed. The rationale for his approach:...

I checked out the M Series Pro and it looks like a reasonable choice that won't break the bank too badly if I have to go the self-pay route. If I can continue to feel better with a fixed pressure machine, then okay... but i do think it will ultimately be important for me to have hard data to go alon...

Good catch Linda3032, it's a remstar plus m series cflex with m series heated humidifier. Wulfman, wish I could agree that doctors worked for us, but I think that's a thing of the past; doctors work for insurance companies who write the checks and there's no question that fact plays a role in their ...

thanks for the encouragement, snoregirl I've just come back from my initial appt... went pretty well. Doc has a slightly different approach than I was looking for but is very open to dialogue etc and I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt at first. I did get a smartcard machine and will be t...

You're right, oldgearhead, I haven't had a titration study and I was not aware of the different pressure ranges of the dif machines... very helpful bit of info. and also thanks, jskinner, re the detailed data recording. I've been through too many adventures with the medical industry to be willing to...

Thanks so much, rested gal. "Comfortable, effective treatment right from the get go.." hits the nail right on the head. I do want to get started soon, but most importantly, started right. A couple of years ago I had a different pcp who had a few standard cardio tests done, found everything normal an...

Abt to embark on treatment; 1st appt. w/ Dr. tmrw. Advice?

Thanks to all who contribute here. You've already made a difference for me and I haven't even started my treatment. A month or so ago, my cardiologist suggested I do an overnight pulse oximetry which in turn indicated a night at the sleep lab would be a very good idea. I slept for slightly under 6 h...
