Re: Serious Sinus Problem after 5 yrs CPAP Compliance

Have tried saline solutions. My post was probably too long and detailed, but the x-rays showed no infection and, in fact, no fluid build-up in my sinuses. I do plan to try to get to the ENT, and this time hubby says he is coming in with me to make sure I get an adequate explanation of what could pos...

Serious Sinus Problem after 5 yrs CPAP Compliance

I am here, once again after being fine for several years, because my sinus problems finally turned into the most terrible headache ever--but only on the right side of my head. That's the side I usually sleep on. Sleep doc was out of town. ENT was too busy to even call me back, because his partner wa...

The KY Jelly was a solution for me. I put it on the inside of the swivel joints. Thanks for the great tip!

Thank you, Arizona. I wondered why they do nto want to do the surgery, especially if it's that simple. I have a friend who lived with GERD for years. She found a different doc--I guess it was one who was qualified to do the surgery. She had the surgery, and she feels much better. She also lost TONS ...

Oh, dear, SleepyWI, my heart goes out to you. My doc prescribed sleep meds also. I was on Lunesta for about 3 months. It finally dawned on me that I was losing my mind and my memory. It was affecting me cognitively and emotionally also. I decided to get myself off the sleep meds and just deal with o...

I received prior approval and my Blue Cross paid for mine. Unfortunately, I could only stand being on it for a few days. It made me dizzy, sleepier during the day, and nauseated. I am also extremely lactose intolerant, and Provigil contains lactase. I was certainly hoping that it would help, but it ...

Thanks, GoofyUT. It makes sense. I must have missed that posting by Rested Gal. I wish I could call myself a rested gal! I'll address this with my family practice physician in a couple of weeks when I go in for a physical exam. He is so much better than either my ENT or my sleep doc. Well, I have to...

I have been on CPAP for almost a year, and I am still a sugar junkie. If there is any hard candy near me, I am into it. I don't notice acid reflux per se, but my esophagus burns all the time. I used to get esophagitis on a regular basis, but that does not happen any more. I try to stay away from aci...

Let me elaborate on my humidifier. The top does not just lift off from the bottom portion, but the humidifier does come right out of the CPAP machine. I can empty it through the little hole and rinse it out, but that's it. Thanks, Hurricane. I just read your first post about my humidifier. Sounds li...

Thanks, Hurricane & Bookwrm63. I can do that--just empty, wash out with soapy water, and let it air dry. I was under the impression that I should also wipe down the inside surfaces. Dumb idea! I like your approach.

I also try to be diligent about cleaning tubing, mask, etc., but my humidifier defies even the nimble fingers of my spouse. It was not designed to be opened every day. My spouse is a mechanical engineer, among other things, and he claims it's a poor design. He says I would never have enough time in ...

(constant nasal congestion & sometimes that irritating nasal drip in the back of the throat). Thanks for all your responses, and yes, DSM, I have the same issue as you do with the drip in the back of my throat and chronic nasal congestion. What is baffling me is that it was pretty much gone for awh...

Esophageal Reflux

I looked up sleep apnea on About.com this morning. Among other things, they claim it can be related to esophageal reflux. I have had that problem for almost a decade and have had two endoscopies. The doc wants me to stay on medication for reflux, but now I read where the usual medications interfere ...

Hello and happy new year to all. I just signed up after reading some of the postings here for the past month or so. (Since Sneezy was taken, I've signed up as Runny, since my nose has been doing both almost nonstop recently.) I've been on CPAP slightly more than a year now, and I thought I was doing...
