Re: macOS Big Sur does not like Sleepyhead
Sheeple who buy Apple producrs . . . Shaking my head. I have run both Mac and PC for years. Mac at home, PC at work. And I will tell you, windows has its own set of problems. Like the ridiculous amount of bloat-Ware that comes on your computer, much of it that cannot be deleted. For home computing,...

Re: Newbie trying to figure this all out. Any help would be appreciated
I think I've been ripping it off because I'm not used to waking up in the middle of the night so I'm getting frustrated. I used to never cognitively wake up at all, so I'm blaming the waking up right now on the mask and I don't want to wake myself up enough to fix whatever is going on. I'll have to...

Re: Sleep Music
I have been listening to soft instrumental New Age type music on a station called 'Aura' through my satellite television provider. I use the sleep function on my television to set the timer for the desired length of time, then go to sleep. Been working great for me.

Re: Scientific Studies on OSA & Weight Loss
General practitioners know little to nothing about sleep apnea. If your PCP won't work for you to get the assistance you need, get a new PCP, or get them to refer you to a better sleep doctor. Your condition is at the high end of severe. My sleep study showed an AHI of 97. Our condition is life thre...

Re: OSA on exhale?
Interesting. I know human reasoning and medical science don't always match up, so...am I correct in assuming that a significant reduction in my AHI
greatly reduces my chances of heart attack and stroke? Am I thinking it through correctly?

Re: OSA on exhale?
I look at is like this: If the alternatives are not sleeping (or sleeping like crap, or having a bloody nose bridge, etc), or giving up and living with an AHI of 97, or sleeping comfortably with an AHI of 10 - 20 while I work on getting it lower.... I know where I want to be. I agree. I slept fairl...

Re: OSA on exhale?
I would never throw my mask out the window. It's much more satisfying to throw it against the wall (which I did Sat. night ). I know, I know, bad form. I would say "You don't know how frustrating this is," but it sounds as though you do. Thanks for the encouragement. I was actually considering the v...

Re: OSA on exhale?
Update: Only got one really good night of sleep on auto mode. Pressures are high and I cannot stop the mask from leaking. I've been frustrated and unable to use it for the last few nights. The pressure requires the mask to be so tight it destroys the bridge of my nose. I'm fighting with a DME for a ...

Re: OSA on exhale?
Thanks Pugsy, I will try that. Do I still leave the PS setting at 8? I imagine that's probably where I would have to leave it, since it's maxed. I'm starting to think the sleep study tech wasn't that far off with his numbers of 20 / 16. I guess with a sleep study AHI of 97, I am pretty severe. It ob...

Re: OSA on exhale?
Alright so it would appear that I'm not crazy, and not the only one to have OSA upon exhale. On another note, I did in fact switch my machine to auto BiPAP mode. I set the minimum epap to 11 and the max ipap at 20 with PS set to 8. I will say I think I had better quality sleep, although my AHI only ...

Re: OSA on exhale?
Wulfman- I am looking at my sleep study now. It shows a prescribed setting of 20 over 16. The RT stated that she seriously questioned those settings, and thought they were awful high. My decision to try 15 over 10 was based on the fact that my initial settings were 15 over15 (incorrect according to ...

Re: OSA on exhale?
Will do. At this point, I almost wonder if turning on the auto-function might not be a good idea. My detailed report for last night showed zero large leaks, and zero percent large leak time, with a leak index of 42. Not sure what that means, but it sounds as though leaks are not a major issue. Anywa...

Re: OSA on exhale?
Sorry. I just got my smart card, so no info on anything prior to the last 4 days. I got the 5.4 AHI figure from the machine itself after about a week of use. I wanted to get a week or so on the card before I submitted it for interpretation. I know a single night or two is not enough data to effectiv...

Re: OS on exhale?
Sorry that should have been OA (obstructive apneas). I have been literally wrestling with my auto correct on my phone lately. I should have caught that. I will try to edit that.
