I love Vicks! It's a comfort thing for me. Whether it's psychosomatic or not, rubbing it on my chest/neck and around my nose when I don't feel good just makes me feel better. I love the idea of putting some by the intake filter. I've often wondered how I could smell the vicks with my mask on!

Help with settings on ResMed vantage

I took my machine to the DME to have them review the stats, and when I got it back, they changed something in the settings so I can't find my own pressure, leak rate etc.

Can anyone help me get it back?

Dennis, Turn up your humidifier! And get some Ayr nasal gel. Use a qtip and liberally apply inside the nose every night - that should become your nightly ritual. I have the same machinery you do. When I turn the humidifier down, my nose hurts. When I forget the Ayr, my nose hurts. When I do both, no...

My insurance would cover 0, nuttin', nada, if I order it anywhere but at the DME. So, I only use the DME when I know it's well within my interest to do so. Having said that, to me, the extra effort to save the cost listed would be worth it. I'm not scared to fight with the insurance company, nor am ...

The Swift was my first mask and to date is still my favorite. Definitely go up a pillow size. I actually go between the small and the medium, but am most comfortable with the medium. And your straps shouldn't be so tight to as to give you the pig-nose feel. Ayr gel in the nose and esp. around the na...

Usually I do not check my cpap, but I did one time. I packed it in it's padded carrying case and it took up half of my large suitcase. It did arrive in fine shape and on time, but my large suitcase got inspected by the TSA both ways, so I wonder if it set off security somehow. I only checked it beca...

Naturopaths? No opinion, really. Doctors who really listen? In my opinion, worth the extra cost. My experience? I've been on cpap nearly a year, and have been sleeping more soundly but not feeling better. I switched dr's recently to one who really listens and he was the only one to ask if I was feel...

If you want to be prepared, put a copy of your rx in your bag, too. As well as a copy of the TSA regs on carrying medical equipment (do a search for it on this site). I've traveled with my cpap alot - always had to take it out, occasionally needed to have it swabbed. Three times the TSA agent commen...

Synthroid is a synthetic thyroid hormone replacement. It works with most hypothyroid patients if their bodies can convert the T4 to T3. Some people don't get good results on Synthroid and need or prefer a bio-identical thyroid replacement (Armour Thyroid). It's as important to pay attention to your ...

liberty $ - dme vs cpap.com

OK, got a Mirage Liberty mask from the dme today (must get from dme for insurance to reimburse) for $300.00+ with the headgear. Cost from cpap.com $174.95.

That's just wrong.

Never on my back or stomach. ALWAYS on my side. I can't handle being on my stomach at all, or my back. In fact, during my sleep study they asked me to stay on my back, and I did - uncomfortably- but stayed awake the whole time. When they told me it was OK to roll to the side I went to sleep immediat...

I have both the swift II and the opus. I have used the swift for nearly a year. I've tried about 5 different masks and have always come back to the swift. Anyway, my comparison of the two: the opus has a smaller footprint for side sleeping. The pillow doesn't shift the opus as much. the swift is ove...

I use a Swift II - the first couple of weeks my nares hurt somewhat. The Ayr gel really helped (lanolin does, too). I switched to a larger size pillow which also helped. Now I switch back and forth between the small and the medium.

Thanks for the tips! I switched to the medium pillows last night and used the dental floss trick. Excellent! I might try the velcro trick, too.
