I was a medical technologist (clinical lab scientist) for 12 years. That overlapped with getting an advanced degree in mol. biol. and now I work for a major biopharmaceutical company as a scientist. I've been a diagnosed and treated apnea patient since 07/23/99. But I was a misdiagnosed apnea patien...

I used ResMed's Ultra Mirage nasal mask for years, now I use their full face Mirage . I can't stand the Activa because the headgear is hard plastic and it doesn't fit around my Vulcan ears but hurts them instead. Check out the Mirage at http://www.ResMed.com. Alternately, try moving the mask down a ...

Well, I can certainly relate to both the depression and the divorce. From these posts, I know you realize there is a lot of support for you out here. I'll echo that you absolutely have to try really hard to keep your apnea under control because, as you noted, it can become a horrible vicious cycle. ...

I'm sorry you have had such trouble getting treated. Unfortunately, it is not a rare situation and why many of us are trying to increase public awareness and educate medical staff. I've known of people who inform ignorant medical staff that apnea is very serious and if they have a car accident, or a...

I been diagnosed with Reiter's Syndrome. This weird arthritis causes my fingers and toes to swell like sausages. I disagree with my rheumatologist though because it only happens if my apnea has been out of control for awhile. So for me, it is pretty evident that peripheral circulation is affected. V...

True Liam , my APAP is an older model ResMed Autoset T. But the sleep labs I've spoken with recently still aren't satisfied with APAPs. Just a little clarification, the reflex to breath is actually not a decrease in O2 sat., but a rise in CO2. A moot point since none of the autoPAPs measure either, ...

CPAP definite advantages
My sleep doc proved to me the advantage of a CPAP during a sleep study. My study clearly showed that my APAP spiked erroneously high pressures which caused multiple arousals and greatly disrupted sleep as opposed to when I was on CPAP . So the algorithms still need work. This reason, plus the fact t...

I know where you are talking about. The exhaust post whistles. Resmed has a customer/tech. service department, so I suggest you call them and talk to them about it. At the very least, they are good at really listening to customer complaints and suggestions and improving their equipment. I'm going to...
