Re: Distilled water?
Greetings, gang! Been away for a while, but am back! AFAIK, what is in your humidifier tank is what you breathe, especially if it can turn into a gas. The sleep center that I went to the last time tried to put their tap water into my humidifier, even tho the manual recommended distilled. I am person...

Re: Severe exhaustion scares me !! Need hope please
Spirit, I wish I could give you hope, but I *can* tell you that you are not alone. I've been rasslin' severe fatigue for decades. I came into this forum in Dec '06 (gads, has it been that long???) I eventually dropped out because the "magical cure" of CPAP didn't work for me originally after over a ...

CPAP "failure"
Greetings, all... Been a while since I've been here. I had high hopes for CPAP therapy, but it didn't work for me. I had a high incidence of apnea with the sleep study a year ago. Twelve months after I initiated therapy, I had no improvement on my chronic fatigue. I tried a different rate (started a...

xPAP may not be the cure-all, sadly....
Greetings, gang.... I have been on the Remstar Pro with C-flex for 8+ months. I had hoped this would be the magic bullet to fix my life. I have been able to check my stats with Encore Pro through one of the gem guys on this website. Thanks, Sam! What we found was that although my AHIs were very low,...

Really, really vivid dreams
Den, I am finally informed! RAINSUX (Sam) and I hooked up in Albuquerque yesterday. He has the Encore Pro software and read my smart card with no problem. I got all sorts of reports! <g> Other than looking like the CPAP keeps my snoring down, it doesn't seem to be doing me much good on a consistent ...

Really, really vivid dreams
Snoredog,
Thanks for the tip. I was diagnosed bi-polar once 20 years ago, but my "manics" were not crazy and actually the only times I felt human. <g> The lithium just cut out those good peaks and the antidepressant didn't.
I'm sure the science is much newer now, so I'll check it out!

Really, really vivid dreams
Sam, Yes, I go to the Albq VA and had the sleep test referral and CPAP equipment through them. The techs at the pulmonary lab are friendly but not at all knowledgeable about the equipment. I think they will try to work with you on the equipment, but their knowledge is pretty limited (not entirely th...

Really, really vivid dreams
Kathy and gang, Will keep you posted. The VA pays for my visits to the sleep Dr. and for my sleep test. (Thankfully!) However, they won't pay for the card reader and software, so I may eventually pay out of pocket for those items. My sleep study DID show that I spent very little time in stages 3 & 4...

Whistling UMFF
My UMFF whistles at the little exhaust port holes up by the nose bridge if I have the pressure set for more than 14. (14 is my original pressure...doc had me try 16 and it really whistled) I think it may just be the physics of the thing...some kind of "venturi" effect. If you use a lower pressure th...

Vivid dreams...
Thanks to those who replied to my question. Sorry I didn't reply sooner....I'm still in a fog most days. I think there may be something to me having interrupted REM, especially when I wake up a lot to reseat my mask because of leaks. I also realize that I have many of the aspects of narcolepsy. The ...

Higher Pressures
Greetings! I started with a pressure of 14, which did no good. My sleep Dr. told me to go up to 16. I don't mind the pressure so much, but do have the problem of keeping my mask sealed. Seems I have to readjust the straps every night. Then I wake up several times a night to reseal the mask. I have n...

Really, really vivid dreams
Greetings, gang..... I have done some research in the archives and haven't found a solution to my problem yet. I have no problems dreaming. In fact, I can recall dreams that I had as a child. My dreams occur in in all the senses - sight, smell, taste, touch, and feel. Each morning I can give extreme...

Thanks, gang, for your responses. I don't really have to have the heated humidifier, so I just put water in the reservoir and let the output air stream across it into the hose to the mask So far the actual xpap works fine on the small inverter. I kinda expected it to, because ithe xpap is just a sma...

Battery pack (and altitude)
Mile High, I don't believe my pap has an internal battery. There is a plug in for a 12v adapter. The VA got me an adapter that is a female 12v receptacle that is wired to battery clips. However, they forgot the cord to go from the pap to the adapter. I am the first person they had who lives off the ...
