Well, after a brief discussion and request to my GP he prescribed an APAP for me and I got my Remstar APAP about a month ago. I was not worried about 'runaway' pressures since my sleep lab suggested pressure was 23. I had been using a bpap for a couple of months and had actually been getting pretty ...

[quote="IWannaSleep"]Now that I have all my settings tweaked, optimum pressure, humidifier, mask fit, and so on, I find I breathe so much more freely with my mask on and at pressure. For me, that first breath without my mask is a bit of a let down. My APAP and Swift combo is keeping my sinuses open ...

Seems to me that since you (or you through your insurance) paid big bucks for the study, that you, as the customer, are entitled to a copy of the studies for free. Now if you asked for extra copies, it would be reasonable to charge you.

[quote="4Katie"]My experience is similar to RED SOX's - My GP ordered the sleep study; I went; he called with the diagnosis of OSA; I did another sleep study for titration; I went to the DME for the equipment. No sleep doctor, no mention of follow-up. I had to ask just to get the results of the slee...

Although my initial prescription was 23/23 on the bipap, I found through use and monitoring over a 2 month period that a setting of 18/16 on the bipap provided pretty consistent AHI's of under 5. My hope with the apap was that it would allow me to spend a significant part of the night at a lower pre...

NoSleep - that sounds like me - my titration study recommended 23/23 on the bipap, but suggested that since I didn't sleep on my back at all during the study that I might need to go higher. Now I don't know how thay can cime up with these recommendations - the Respironics BiPap is the only xPAP mach...

Thanks Guys, No - I checked - it was in AFLEX the first two nights - I switched it to straight APAP last night, thinking that maybe the flex was making it hard for the machine to detect my breathing patterns. I will play around with it a little more, but I think I may just have a lemon - fortunately...

Help with my new APAP

I convinced (didn't take much) my GP to prescribe a Respironics APAP with cflex and the DME finally got it in. Picked it up Friday and have slept with it for 3 nights now. I have been using the Respironics BiPAP Pro 2 for a couple of months now and an inhale setting of 18 seems to give me very good ...

I second meister's comments. The forum is a place folks come to for getting answers to problems and to vent when treatment is not going well. You are likely to notice that there are not a lot of 'old timers' on the forum - that's because people who work out the kinks (or who give up entirely) don't ...

Yes, I'm using a Mirage Ultra FF mask. I just overlap the strips. The 'stickem' is just enough to keep the strips in place. After the first night they are kind of form fitted and stay in place until I replace them. I do have to trim the top of the triangle over the nose area - any excess sticks out ...

Works Great! I cut them in half vertically and use the sticky side to stick three pieces (a triangle) to the mask cushions. I trim the excess and I am set for the night. I find that my mask pad lasts 2 or three days before I have to replace it. I do get a little more leakage, but it is VERY quiet, u...

OK - so my cpap broke down Thursday night. I called my DME first thing Friday morning and was passed to their 'call back' line. No call back Friday. None over the weekend (not really expected). No Call back Monday - called Monday morning - I was told that the APap my Dr. prescribed was in and passed...

I had little problems adjusting to sleeping with my xPap other than some mask leak problems. But it didn't seem to be helping much with my sleepiness. For me the change was very slow & gradual. But I noticed eventually that I was not groggy in the morning and I didn't tend to nod off in front of my ...

While I try to breath through my nose most of the night (even with a FF Mask) and I find that the pressure of the xPAP tends to help keep my nose clear, there are times when I fall back to mouth breathing. When I do, I wake up with dry mouth. The humidifier helps some, but it is the mouth breathing ...
