Re: I washed a LG Full-face Quattro in the dishwasher.
I found that it is a good idea to wrap hamburger patties in alumininum foil when cooking them on an engine manifold. The foil wrap holds the patty together and reduces the mess in the engine compartment.

Re: I give up on my Respironics mask
There are several mask manufacturers and most of them make a variety of masks. Some people swear by a particular mask while others swear at the same mask -- it all depends upon the individual. I have been using CPAP for about 14 years and have used many different masks in that time. I have been usin...

I don't know which would be worse; having sleep apnea and having to use CPAP, or having a wife as shallow as this one.

Re: Car Camping
The inverter / power supply that you are using may have a low voltage cut out that is shutting off when the battery voltage goes below a certain point. The battery still has enough juice to start your car but the voltage is low enough that the power supply shuts off. A low battery shut off may be sa...

Re: The Tonsil Removal Nonsense
I am 53 and used to have chronic strep throat; I also had scarlet fever several times and rheumatic fever -- but I never had my tonsils out. When I was nearly 40, I had a UPPP and my tonsils were removed. The only good thing that came out of the UPPP was that the tonsillectomy cured my chronic strep...

Re: Back-up machine and mask?
It always good to have a spare / travel CPAP. There isn't really anything wrong with getting a used CPAP, although you might want to check the output with a manometer to make sure that it is the same as the set pressure. Before you buy it, run it and make sure that the output doesn't have an odor; i...

Re: Poll: How many years before diagnosis? Treatment?
My mom was taking me to doctors for the classic symptoms of OSA when I was about 12 or 13, and I was diagnosed and started CPAP when I was 38.

Re: International Travel w/ CPAP Machine
I would plan on powering my CPAP with a portable CPAP battery. I would also forget using a humidifier during the flight, regardless of whether you use a battery or aircraft power.. If the airline can give you specific information assuring you that a 110 volt 50 or 60 cycle power outlet is available ...

Re: DeVilbiss Intellipap questions
There is a delay setting that may not be set to zero -- it defaults to a longish time delay. I set the delay to zero when I set up my machine, and am not sure if the delay is actually a ramp or if it is a delay before the ramp starts.

Re: Is prescription necessary to order equipment?
There are many things that claim to need a prescription, but they will be sold without one. Legitimate DMEs in the US and many other countries won't sell CPAPs without a prescription. I wouldn't sell or give away one of my used CPAPs without seeing a prescription or going through CPAP Auction, which...
