Re: Taping and Humidity
My wife is a registered respiratory therapist and registered polysomnographist tech, (21 years) she suggests getting a chin strap as the tape is dangerous, and to increase your rate of humidity. Suggestions only, you should visit your doctors and tell him about the tape and dry mouth. Thanks for yo...

I've been on CPAP since Oct '06, and I've used it every night but one since then. I have this problem of dry mouth and throat every now and then, and I've had it the last couple of nights again. I use my humidifier every time, and I tape my mouth every time; my pressure is 16, and no way could I kee...

I had read on this board about leaking humidifiers before I got my equipment so I used a baking sheet to protect my walnut nightstand, which was a good thing because my first humidifier leaked every night. There were two or three dime-sized puddles underneath in the morning. My DME exchanged the lea...

Can I ask all you victims of rainout a question? How cold does your bedroom have to be before it happens to you? I haven't had it happen yet in two weeks (knock wood) with my H3i set to 4 out of 6 and the thermostat set for 66 at night. I'm thinking either I'm on a run of luck due to play out, or y...

Re: HYPAFIX tape - has anybody tried it for mouth taping?
I just ordered a roll of Hypafix tape and I'll post my opinion after I've tried it. I've tried out this tape now. It's labeled "dressing retention sheet." It's soft and flexible, lighter in weight and less porous than 3M Nexcare micropore tape. The adhesive is both stronger and gentler than on the ...

The day after my titration study, my hands and feet swelled quite uncomfortably. That was Sep 27, and the swelling took two or three days to disperse completely. I started CPAP on Oct 4, have used it every night, and my weight has been up about six pounds since my sleep study. This feels like fluid ...

Mine leaked. I put it on a cookie sheet from the beginning because I had read here about leaking humidifiers. There'd be two or three dime-sized puddles under the machine in the morning. I couldn't figure out where the water was coming from. The humidifier compartment was dry inside. Anyhow, my DME ...

I'm an amateur and a newbie, but I feel bold! Someone will surely correct me. What I learned from reading around on the Web after my first sleep study -- which showed about 1/3 of my apneas as central. Unless you have a brain stem injury, you most likely don't have central sleep apnea. Your central ...

Re: mouth taping
I mentioned earlier in another post that I have been using Johnson and Johnson bandage tape, that comes in a dispenser roll in the bandage section. This works great for me and is pretty cheap and easy to come by. Hope that helps you! I started with Johnson & Johnson micropore tape but found it too ...

Re: HYPAFIX tape - has anybody tried it for mouth taping?
A while back, I mentioned something in passing, to my RT about mouth taping and she looked at me like I was crazy, and said "You're NOT really serious, are you?" She said that it was potentially a very dangerous thing to do, especially if you had to cough or vomit or whatever. I've never felt the n...
