Re: Nuvigil anyone?
Nuvigil can cause headaches. In my case they went away in a few weeks. I also had to cut back on caffeine to avoid jitters and irritability. Is your sleep apnea fully treated? Poor sleep can make psych symptoms worse and increase daytime sleepiness. Hope this helps.

I Slept A Whole Night! and Cervical Collar Question
I've struggled with finding the right mask for years. My bedside drawer was better stocked than most DMEs. When I decided to try again I was limited to the gear my husband used, a nasal pillow mask. I thought there's no way I can do this as I've failed with both chin straps, tape and chin-up strips....

Thanks pugsy! I set it for auto no ramp between 7-10 cm. I also downloaded the new version of Sleepyhead software so now I just need to sleep.

Hello,
Hubby started with Aloha and switched to the Swift FX and he loves it. Worth a go esp. with insurance.

Hello Again! Questions RE self titration
Hello! After a two year break- Sleep doc and 2 sleep studies claimed I didn't have sleep apnea. I've had some new/worsening health issues pop up and a new dr that feels poor sleep is contributing to my health issues. He's not a sleep doc and he did refer me to one for a consult. My question is since...

Re: Doc took me off of cpap shocked, confused (long)
Thanks SU,
I emailed my sleep doc and asked for copies of my sleep studies and I asked if the studies caputured enough REM sleep to rule out apnea during REM sleep.

Re: Doc took me off of cpap shocked, confused (long)
Thank you everyone who responded. Your advice and support is very comforting. I tried to respond to all the questions you asked. If I’ve forgotten anyone I apologize and blame it on lack of sleep! @JointPain: interesting idea. My apap range is 7-11 Cm H2O. My titrated pressure was 8 CmH2O so I could...

SleepStar: Thanks for responding The study summary states “No significant PLMs were seen on this study with a PLM index of 0.0 per hour and a PLM arousal index of 0.0 per hour. “ I do have RLS but it is well controlled with iron supplements. It was also noted that I had mild increase in my chin EMG ...

Doc took me off of cpap shocked, confused (long)
I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea over six years ago. At the time my AHI was 9.4 and even though my AHI was just under the criteria for apnea my sleep doctor felt that my AHI combined with my EDS merited CPAP. Thus began a six year journey to find the elusive mask and obtain effective, consisten...

Re: Looking for reviews on Fisher and Paykel Oral Mask
I tried the Oracle. The two big drawbacks are excessive drool and keeping the treatment air form blowing out of your nose. You also need to crank up your humidifier to keep your mouth from drying out. There is one member, I can’t remember his name right now, who got this mask to work and was very he...

Kaiasgram, I hope you feel better. Wouldn't you have a fever if it was the flu or even a cold?

Re: Questions about finding the best sleep doc
Hey Sherif! I’m glad your treatment is going well! My motivation for the post is that now that my apnea is treated, low AHI, minimal leaks ect. I have some remaining symptoms that make me think there’s more going on than just sleep apnea. That got me looking at sleep docs in my area and then wonderi...

Re: Questions about finding the best sleep doc
Thanks all for the feedback so far. I’m not looking for recommendations for specific drs. I’m wondering if there is a background that makes one sleep doc a better choice than another.
@borgready-interesting question! Perhaps you could start your own post?

Questions about finding the best sleep doc
I’ve been looking for a new sleep dr. and I’ve noticed that they seem to fall into three groups: pulmonary, neurology/ sleep disorders or Otolaryngology/ENT. I’m wondering how the Drs. background affects their approach to sleep apnea? Is one specialty better than another?
