Re: Pressure at Higher Altitude

Here are links in the Journal of the American Medical Association on the med you referenced. The first is a brief description of high altitude breathing and references Acetazolamide, the second is a study about using the drug. Having a chat with your doc about this is a really good idea. http://jam...

Pressure at Higher Altitude

My wife and I are preparing to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and will be traveling to Flagstaff, AZ to celebrate, (and to scope out a potential area for retirement.) We currently live at sea level. Should I consider making any adjustments to my IPAP/EPAP pressures to compensate for the high...

Re: Today is Limerick Day

Windy and wet was the storm.
Feeling worries and fret... not the norm.
I bolted upright,
but to my delight,
'twas rainout, I'm in bed and still warm!

Re: Where can I download Encore Pro 2?

I have a Win 7 running 64 bit and got Encore Basic (look for pugsy's) and it runs fine... ...Hint I really like sleepyhead. Rich Thanks Rich! I like Sleepyhead as well. It seems to do a great job. I also liked Encore back in the day. I'd just like to compare the two. I guess I should have specified...

Re: Where can I download Encore Pro 2?

Back in '06 I purchased the Philips Respironics Encore Pro Data Management Software 1.8i from CPAP.com for my (then) new machine. A few years later, after upgrading to Windows 7, I found that it wouldn't work with Windows 7, so I've been running a dual boot system, (Win XP), so I could continue to u...

Hi Sarah. Thank you for your input on this. I'm a bit confused about the following statement: Allso if you're taking time off for yourself, your employer has the right to request information on your serious medical condition. As I understand it, once a need for FMLA leave is discovered, and the Enti...

Anyone ever tell you that you have a smile that could light up a small city?

You simply cannot go wrong with ANY of the offered choices, however, my vote goes to #12.

Thanks for asking!

I am still a little bit curious though, why the machine would not self adjust (with the old settings) when I woke up, ...why did it continue to pump out full flow, high pressure air no matter how long I waited? I wonder if maybe the machine is trying to compensate for the leak with the higher press...

There seems to be a key difference between the ADA and FMLA. Under the ADA, a person must be a "qualified individual with a disability". The ADA defines a qualified individual with a disability as: "...a person who meets legitimate skill, experience, education, or other requirements of an employment...

Now that I'm getting proper treatment, I'm not longer severely limited. CG, First of all, I'm not a lawyer, (or anything even close! ). This having been said, here's how I see it: Asthma is considered a disability. An asthmatic has an inhaler. The inhaler mitigates the asthma, yet the asthmatic sti...

I don't see having OSA as being a disability. Sleep Apnea has been identified by the courts as being a disability as defined by the ADA. (Silk vs. City of Chicago - Sorry, lost the link. will search for it if necessary.) why should that be a disability and be given special treatment? My employer ha...

In addition to the ADA, you also have the FMLA, (Family Medical Leave Act), and if you are in California, you have the CFRA, (California Family Rights Act). Information on the FMLA can be found here: http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/ Information on the CFRA can be found here: http://www.dfeh.ca.gov/S...

SIDS and Apnea - Any relationship?

I just read the following article in a local newspaper and thought I'd post it here for your information and comments. The information and descriptions given in the article sounded, (to me), much like sleep apnea, (CSA?), or at least related in some way. I have no medical training and could be misre...
