Golden Tips for titration study:

- I'm getting a titration study (yeah!!) - Oh.. no, I'm getting a titration study (Arghhhhhh!!) As you can see I'm in two minds. My 1st PSG was a washout. I did not sleep a wink. Now I need to learn about how to sleep while wired up like a lab rat. I know it is not that bad, but I need to relax more...

My DME did suggest to notify both the fire dept and the power company of my bipap, so that in the event of a power outage, they would have that info to prioritize my location to get the power up and running. Don't know that I would trust any organization to take that responsibility to heart...anybo...

Hi air, No error messages on the display? I would not worry overmuch at this stage. I'd consider having the pressures checked. Europe right? A public hospital near you should have a manometer, maybe even free or subsidised access to an RT. They might be able to arrange to have your machine checked l...

Sounds like you are going through hell, James

Prednisone takes hours to kick in but they (corticosteroids) can be a real wonder drug. Your Doc would have told you to lower your dose slowly towards the end - this is important.

So I have purchased a brand new mask, BIPAP, humid, tubing and filters. Hi Aqua. You have some good advice there. What mask did you get, out of interest? My 2 cents: Most of those who are "told" to get a bipap by their specialist possibly should ask their specialist's opinion first. I know this is ...

My half a cent. It is more likely to be a result of an allergy, or a side effect of the meds he might have to take for his infection - my thoughts and hope any way.

Mask advice - switching away from Ultra Mirage FFM ?

Hi, I currently use an Ultra Mirage FFM (large/standard cushion.) I am looking for possible alternatives in the FFM area. I find it has to be tightened much more than I would like, just to keep seal, as I'm on very high pressures. The follow on effect is that the cushions wear out too quickly and [b...

Thanks James. Do you plan to add a patch to 'bridge' the broken lines if days are missing. This was a useful feature in the old MyEncore.

Re: Respironics buys Australian DME

ROFL..... the Australian CPAP market is a fraction (less than 5%) of the world market, so there is not much to "take on"! Hi Bill, I thought I had made it obvious that my comment there was intended to be considered relatively parochial in terms of scope. Nevertheless, it seems Respironics is contin...

Respironics buys Australian DME

This may not be news, or even of interest to many here, but Mayo Healthcare have sold their homecare division to Respironics, effective 1st Jan 2007. Mayo was the agent for Respironics in Australia, selling a range of therapeutic and diagnostic equipment, including xpap machines through their 'Sleep...

Thanks SAG. I'm trying to get a PSG. I'd love one tomorrow, but there is a long waiting period. I first have to find a new RS. I agree about the pulse ox. Right now I can't afford to wait so I'm working in the dark and trying to patch things along the way. Not an ideal situation, but that is the two...

I guess it might take more consultations or second opinions with more studies to find out. Snoredog said it. "You cannot tell on your own if you have central apnea vs. obstructive". Please stay on subject with sleep apnea I have had an extremely ivestigated workup and know a ton about healthcare at...

My wife will tell me I wake up all the time gasping for air and I can remember it happening and I will move and spring from the bed. Definitely see a heart specialist. In your shoes I'd arrange for a passive echo-cardiogram and a ECG halter a.s.a.p (through your neuro if necessary), so you are full...

Re: Sleep Lab Results: AHI 53.5

I guess what concerns me the most is my average time not breathing (30 sec). If someone had over double my AHI, and averaged 30 sec they wouldn't breathe at all. That was me.. and I've met people who were far worse. There is no need to be anxious with those results. You need pap, not intubation. Be...
