Wow. I haven't visited in half a year and I find one of my favorite threads still going strong! I am still a professor of mathematics and a mathematical consultant. I am also glad to see some of the best info sources still helping us all, Rested, Wader, Ozij, SWS, but I seem to be missing any recent...

From the other posted thread about this problem regarding electrical pressure tripping up the processor of the unit, I decided to plug the machine into an ordinary line conditioner, which is similar to a surge suppressor. Since the 420E still shut off a few times during the night, I can rule out ele...

First, I do not use the heated hose, so that's not part of the problem. Some random guesses on the other link are pretty far fetched. My house or yours does not lose power six times per night, and even if it did, wouldn't I have had this problem with the old fashioned resmed. But thank you for direc...

New apap problem
Hi everyone, I haven't been here for a while.. I just got a new PB420 apap a week ago to replace my 6 year old resmed cpap. My problem is that every night it shuts off completely for about 3 seconds. It does this several times a night. I think it is trying to seal leaks, as I feel it press back on m...

I am overweight too. I'm 5'9" male and 200. To get a BMI of 25 I should be 165. I was thin, underweight even, all my life until marriage and I started eating all my wife's wonderful cooking. That plus knee and back injuries took away running and tennis, so now mowing the lawn is pretty much all the ...

It took me months to get used to sleeping with the mask on. For me it wasn't claustrophobic, but it was SO uncomfortable. OK, well it still is uncomfortable, but at least I'm used to it. After 2 1/2 years I finally let my kids ( 10 and 13) see me with it. Why? Self conscious mostly. The thing is goo...

Scotland is one of the greatest places I have ever been. The people are firendly, the lager is cold, and the whole place is magical. I was there in 1986, before cpap, when I still wore size 14 1/2 shirts ( That's a US size for males). This was also before the bottled water craze. You should have no ...

Dear Linda, Congrats on the milestone. You are a great asset to the cpapers, newbies, poets, word-o-philes ( I'm sure you'll find a word for that), and everyone who comes and goes on the forum. There are those who stick to the topic, provide us facts, links and more information than I could ever gra...

On a poster in my office: Everybody makes me happy. Some when you come in, the rest of you, when you leave. Don't know who said it. My favorite website in the world is despair.com. the best posters are in a pile in my office waiting for someone to frame them. ( see "procrastination") I got my son th...

I do not know how the auto altitude machines work. Most likely, they have a simplified altimeter and adjust the pressure accordingly, up to the limits of the altimiter. This is why some will not adjust beyond 6500ft. Your right that 10cfm is 10cfm. And a cubic foot is a cubic foot. It's what is in t...

Yes it should be compensated for exactly the same on any machine. If your pressure at your current altitude is 13, and then you stayed in a place with an altitude 5000 ft higher, any machine should be adjusted for the "thinner" air. I think the way to compensate for the altitude would be to increase...
