How long do machines last?
I've been on CPAP for 2 years, and have a Goodnight 420G. How long do these machines last? Last night my machine started making a high-pitched whine or whistle. It is coming from the machine itself, not the mask, host, humidifier or connector. ANyone have any experience with this, what should I do? ...

Re: i cough every night
Hi, every night when i first use my machine i cough for about 20 minutes. Does anyone have any idea why or should i see my dr. about this. I was just thinking maybe its due to the air flow being to high. I am set on 12. Thank you for any ideas. I don't think anyone really answered you question. I d...

CPAP on a Cruise
I will be going on a 3-week European Cruise in 2006. I travel with my CPAP all of the time domestically, but since starting therapy, this will be my first European trip and first cruise. My question to the group concerns distilled water. Will I be able to buy it on the ship (Princess Lines if that m...

[quote="lola"]Thanks for the welcome I'mSewTired - I'm just going by what the technician told me, I'll have to do a bit more research on this. It's good to hear that you have succesfully used the Swift with a higher pressure. Will have to find out why the tech thinks 11 is the limit. ("This one goes...

Lines on the face?
I also use the Swift, and I've never noticed any lines on my face. When I used a different "regular" mask, I did notice marks on my forehead (unfortunatly, my forehead pretty much cover the majority of my scalp ) and on the top of an under my nose.
Is this a common problem with the Swift system?

Nasal Pillows
I have been using the Swift for 6 months and have 100% compliance. I find it to be comfortable, and way more unabtrusive than a "regular" mask. Just resist the temptation of tightening it too much, or it can cause some pain.

Tired but rested
I have had (on some mornings) the same type of feeling. Hard to drag my butt out of bed and tried that day. But still, not the dysfunctional unrested feeling I had before CPAP. I talked to my Dr. (who is great) and he said that just because I am sleeping well now, doesn't mean I'll never be tried ag...

I travel a lot, and while I have only had my CPAP for about 2 months, have taken 5 air trips with it. I had 1 problem in NY and LaGuardia. The IDIOT TSA security Nazi argued with me that it was an Oxygen generator, which can't be taken on the plane . When I tried to explain that it was a CPAP (or ma...

I don't know what I don't know...
I have now been on CPAP for about a month. I originally had a (what I found to be a discontinued) large, heavy CPAP with a separate cool humidifier that also seemed clunky. Based on the info I got from this group, I call the DME supplier and complained and they brought me a great little light 420G w...

I called the DME supplier. They said they substituted the Goodnight because of the Dr's orders. He said my Dr specified plain CPAP w/ no C-Flex or APAP w/ cool humidity. When I complained about this machine being discontinued, they offered to bring out a 420G , which I am glad about, since it is muc...

Sleep Data Question
I've read a lot of posts from people talking about the numbers they get from their CPAP machines. How does one access that information?
I have a Remstar 418A, and the only info I see is the time (when off) and current pressure setting, when on.
Thanks!

Additional Info
I didn't have this info handy when I posted my original note. The machine I have is a Remstar Goodknight 418A and the mask they brought with it is a Resp. ComfortGel. I also have a mask that they gave me after my sleep study, which is a Fyshcer Pyskal (spelling????????) that does not leak, but looks...
