Re: Recording oximeter, what does it detect?

Sleep Apnea causes a drop in the O2 saturation in our blood. We should have a saturation of 93% or higher. A recording oximeter will detect the O2 levels while you are sleeping....and give you a report the next morning after downloading the data to your laptop. I use a SPO7500 from Turnermedical.com...

Re: Wow what a Wonderful Forum!

Welcome, Trixey..... You'll do well. Just remember to question everything you're told....and realize that you must take charge of your own therapy. You can't depend on the "experts". Just use good old "common sense"....and lots of experimentation. if you remember the old "Coyote & Road-Runner" carto...

Re: I'm taking my mask off subconsciously...suggestions?

Porete......... Your sub-conscious (the brain that's "in charge" while you're sleeping) is not convinced that CPAP therapy is necessary. Have a "sit down talk" with your sub-conscious and reason with it. Your life is going to be shortened if you don't use CPAP. Also, tell your sub-conscious that you...

Re: traveling with cpap

If you normally have your hose suspended from a bracket over your head, purchase a collapsible hose suspension system from cpap.com. I have one that stays in my spare/travel machine (M-Series w/Humidifier) bag...and I love it. It's inexpensive, takes up little space, weighs almost nothing, and works...

Re: Can fine filters for M Series be "rigged"?

kteague............ I've solved the problem by using a small piece of screen material and inexpensive cotton facial makeup pads. The screen is fabricated from adhesive backed sheetrock seam finishing mud reinforcement material....and fiberglass window screen material. I press the two materials toget...

Re: Mouthguard that restricts mouth breathing

I think the device Rested Gal describes was built to hold the tongue at the roof of the mouth....and pressed against the upper front teeth. Used with a chin strap, it supposedly prevented mouth leaks.

I tried to build one....and failed.

Re: Air blown through Tearduct..

The duct that's blowing air is what's called the "Punctum". Following is a link to a video that'll help explain how it works (and what its purpose is). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ-zNiIq05c Because the pressure inside your breathing system is greater than atmospheric pressure surrounding your ...

Re: Have you tried the "Headrest" nasal pillows mask?

For me, nothing else comes close. I've modified mine in numerous ways.......and I love it.

The problem is, however, the company that builds it is going out of business. I have purchased a lifetime supply.

Get it while you can.......

Re: Combatting Rain-out

I can't tell you "how" to put the string in your mask....because your mask is different from mine. But, the principles are the same. Simply put a piece of thick cotton string inside your nose piece where it can absorb the offending drop or two...before they can get to you. On my mask, I thread a sta...

Re: Combatting Rain-out

Pugsy is giving you very good information. I'm one who uses the cotton twine "wick"....and it works perfectly.

Rainout is not a "flood"...it's just a couple pf pesky drops. You can catch those drops with cotton string....just before they go up your nose.

Re: sleeping with a 35AH battery

I'm using the same size battery for my backup system...and during the last hurricane, I got (2) nights....and probably could have made (3) nights. You didn't mention it, but I assume that you were running the CPAP machine on 12V DC. Interstate battery has a small charger that works well with this sy...

Re: Surge Protectors

The surge protectors we buy at Lowe's or Target use MOV's (metal oxide varistors) and one small surge will fry 'em. If you want real surge protection, I've only found one that I trust. Check out the real stuff at zerosurge.com and be protected. Their products protect my Unix office server, all termi...
