Thanks for the information, Wulfman. As I understand it, the fact I have an emac computer means I can't get software for my Bipap machine. Has that changed?

just started Mirapex - questions

I have been using a bipap machine for almost 2 years and many of you have helped me with that! Recently I have experienced the 4 hours of sleep then 6 or more awakenings for the rest of the night pattern. The doctor wanted to do a titration study (never had one before - just the sleep study). It did...

My DME gave me an old Oracle mask that had been sitting in a box for ?? (years?). We were discussing something else and she gave it to me (free) to try because no one had ever liked them in her experience. I hated it BUT inside the box there were little nose plugs that would do a fine job of stoppin...

Gregnga - I think everyone has that reaction at first; hopefully you will get used to exhaling against the flow - most people seem to. I never could. Give it a try but if things don't improve, start bugging the people who sold you the machine for help. My experience has been that even the profession...

Todd - it sounds like you are doing great for just your third night on the machine. Many people take weeks to get to the stage of being able to sleep for 4 hours. I found that progress comes in spurts and that there are setbacks for every new mask type or new idea I try. After 6 months of trying at ...

I ordered the hybrid mask yesterday!! It should arrive in a week . I am so happy to hear it might help with this problem; it was all I could think of left to try.
Do you still tape and/or use a mouthpiece with the hybrid?

what is role of tongue in air leaks?

I am trying to make a new DIY mouthpiece to keep my tongue wherever it should be to block the escape of air out my mouth during the night. I followed directions a few months ago and made the DIY which worked great. After awhile it no longer worked (it didn't seem to change in any way - I think my to...

I think the truth of getting used to this therapy is that you must be your own detective and try to find a specific reason you are not able to keep the mask on all night. Then - you may get help solving that one little specific problem. That won't make everything perfect but you will then start noti...

Thanks for the reply! I had not realized the leak data would be judged by what mask was being used. I need to update my profile. The mask I was using during the posted data time was the comfortlite - sometimes with the nasal pillows and sometimes with the over-the-nose part. Mouth leaks are a big pr...

interpreting leak data - help.

Today I got a printout of the last 3 months on bipap. Considering the fact that for the last 2 weeks my sleep seems more restless and I have 3 or more awakenings each night, lots of the numbers look surprisingly good to me. Of course I know very little about any of this so maybe someone can help me ...

thanks for suggesting covering the hose to prevent rainout

My thanks to all the people who have kept mentioning ways to stop condensation from forming in the hose and raining on your nose. The problem is intermittent for me so I kept putting off solving it. 2 days ago I spent 10 minutes at the sewing machine and made a long tube out of some fleece scraps an...

bipap seems like a miracle to me

I think this is an interesting thread. I started this sleep apnea treatment adventure about 8 months ago. I tried hard to get used to c-pap but couldn't exhale comfortably against the airflow. (my pressure is 8-12) Then they tried c-flex and other adjustments to the machine as suggested on this foru...

Moogy - I will try the change you suggested. I will look for the other support pressure info you mentioned. I don't think I have ever seen that on my little screen but I bet it is what they changed on my machine after the first week that made it so much better for me. The crazy thing to me is that t...

Jim - thanks for sharing your knowledge! I have friends with windows/pcs so I guess I could go to their computer and get my info... About the cpap pressure - seems like 12 is always the high end number for what they try. I think my cpap had a ramp setting of 6 and then went to 12 in the night. 6 got...
