.... With very few exceptions, most overweight people, myself included, are in that situation by our own doing. ..and many people will throw every excuse in the book out as to why they're overweight and can't lose it, but it simply comes down to most of us just don't have the will power, stamina, o...

The reason it is so difficult is really simple, it requires a complete change in lifestyle, forever. Not for a few weeks, or a few months, but for the rest of your life. It doesn't require a diet, or an exercise program, it's that complete lifestyle change that is needed. Intellectually, I can under...

I have to admit after a week and a half of this, and still feeling tired and beatup all the time, I'm wondering if this is really going to work. ...but do you feel better with using it than without? Give it time. I know of people who have experienced close to immediate relief such as I did as well ...

When I first starting using my Mirage Activa mask I developed a sore on the bridge of my nose within 3 days of using it. It was an open sore and hurt like heck! I went to Walgreens and bought some MoleSkin in the foot care section and cut it into strips and applied it (with some triple antibiotic cr...

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I guess I'll follow your lead and continue to allow myself to sleep as long as I need. It's kind of disconcerting to sleep 10 hours each night, but I'll tell you what, I absolutely feel great when I wake up the next day...it's been a long time indeed since I've felt...

6 week update and a concern!
Hi all, thought I'd check in to report on my progress with my APAP. Well, it's been 6 weeks now that I've been on the machine, and I've managed to ramp myself down off of all of the sleep medication I was taking to stay asleep throughout the night with great success! I'm completely off of it all, an...

Seems there is always someone who has to rain on someone elses parade around here. Oh gosh, I hope you weren't referring to my post! I was just sharing my experience with coming off of it, which I meant to be positive...! You're definitely right though, what is true for one person, isn't necessaril...

Good luck getting off the Paxil. Unless you're one of the few, it's going to be hell withdrawing from that poison. http://www.quitpaxil.info yeah, I guess it varies from person to person. A few years back when my GP was trying to find a solution to my sleeping problems, I was put on rather large do...

Hi Liam , I second the recommendation to try ambien (though, I'm not a doctor!) as a way to help you transition into being more comfortable with wearing the mask. The 10 mg ambien pills will knock you out and I doubt you'd even notice you had the mask on! I guess I'm lucky in that I've been a long t...

Hi loonlvr, yeah, it is a lot of c$ap to be taking, I'm hoping to be able to get off of them all within a few months. I did get the software (thank you, you know who!), and the machine seems to be doing a good job of addressing most events, my AHI is staying below 5 so far. I guess if I wanted to be...

Thanks Ozij for posting that link...I'll give it a read tonight. I've been taking valium since around 1996, a few years after my sleep problems started. I've always tried to maintain as low a dosage as possible and have ramped myself down and off of it many times over the years...only to have to go ...

Well, for me, taking sleeping meds has been a way of treating the symptoms instead of the real problem. Now that I have my APAP, I'm ramping myself down off of the sleep meds and am hoping that within a couple of weeks I'll not need them anymore...I seriously dislike taking them anyway. I envy those...

3 days on Remstar Auto...so far so good!
Hi Everybody! Well, I've now used my Remstar Auto for three days now! The first night I was only able to get 5.5 hours of sleep due to going to bed late and having to get on the road early in the morning... I took my usual dose of sleeping meds and then went to bed. I woke up continuously throughout...
