Re: lost lots of weight--odds of still needing CPAP?

Hello all, it's been years since I have been on this site. I too have lost quite a bit of weight and much to my surprise my sleep study last week showed that I still have sleep apnea, especially in REM sleep. So I guess one does not always become apnea free by losing weight. It was a shock! If you a...

May not need those higher pressures

Thanks again for all of your replies. I am now not at all sure that I even need a high pressure of 20. I have finally gotten the encore program working again and have tracked my progress the last couple of nights. It shows that my average pressure is 10.7 and 90% pressure is at 12. I am still regist...

I have found the Quattro to be more comfortable and to seal better than the UMFF. Having said that, I still frequently need to switch from the Quattro to the UMFF during the night as the Quattro (or any of my other masks ) will begin to have leaks after a couple of hours. When I put the UM on it fee...

high pressures?

Hi everybody, Is anyone using higher pressures (15-20?) and if so, how is it going? My DME just left me a message that they are sending me a new card as they need to increase my pressure to 20! per my sleep lab results! As I can barely keep the mask on my face at 10-14, I don't know how it is going ...

I feel so angry when I hear about docs that are so ignorant about RLS and PLMD. It is truly such an awful, awful problem and needs to be addressed appropriately, And Sedatives can make your OSA worse, so really are not a good idea!!! The RLS Foundation has medical bulletins and on line info which yo...

RLS and antibiotics

Yes, one does have to be cautious about who sponsors a study. However, I find this one interesting due to my own recent experiences. Over the past several months I have been very ill following heart valve surgery. These various illnesses required many weeks of IV antibiotic therapy and also some tra...

mirapex

Hi, I also have RLS and periodic limb movement disorder. I am currently taking .25mg of Mirapex 3X daily, along with ultram. Initially I found relief with .125mg X a day. I had to increase dosage to almost 3mg after several years as it wasn't working as well. I then stopped it and tried almost every...

"Will Succeed",Thanks for that info about getting a 3m furnace filter and fixing it to fit in the CPAP! Great idea, I am going to go buy one tomorrow. I have found that just adding the white filter to the foam one makes a difference, so I imagine that this will be even better.

Jeff, Am I understanding correctly that if you are anemic with a low hemoglobin that your O2 sats via pulse oximeter will not necessarily be correct? If that is the case, then that may explain why I don't do well with a pulse oximeter reading between 90-95 even though it is not that low....I am anem...
