Does she still have her tonsils and adnoids? My son's breathing got MUCH better after his adnoids were removed. It may be worth starting with an ENT. As for the pre-existing condition thing, if you work for a company that is large enough to have to grant leaves under FMLA, they cannot deny health co...

Yoga-I got the Band-Aid Clear spots at Walmart and Walgreens. Another thought for the "obscene" noises: I find them far less common with washing my face and mask really well daily. I get up to 18 some nights, and rarely have difficulty. I found watching the goofey CD about fitting helped also. I lov...

The biggest thing I have found is that I can't make it tight. I also wear Band-Aids clear spots on my nose when the redness gets bad. I like them because they don't allow air under like a regular band-aid, but they don't rip off half my nose like moleskin. Just don't make everything too tight. Keep ...

Help with scratchy throat?

Hi all- I have been very busy with school and many other things, but have lurked often. I think of you all frequently. Now I have a question. I have a cold with a very scratchy throat. I have been waking up in the middle of the night with an unbearable tickle in my throat. I tried turning the humidi...

definite allergy improvement

Teradyn- I have found that my allergies are much, much better breathing the filtered, humidified air all night. I use a RemstarAuto with the white pollen filter in place. However, I have never done a very good job of "allergy-proofing" my bedroom. You know-no carpet, wash bedding in hot once a week,...

My mask is kind of a signal to hubby. On=no. Off means maybe. As for the kids, I shared a story recently that I think is worth sharing again. Sorry for those of you that have heard it. I showed my kids (3 and 6) my mask when I got it. I also turned it on and put it near their faces so they knew it w...

Thanks for all of your kind words. Teri- My brother used to call my dad's identical twin uncle daddy! How funny! Thanks for the nice parenting words. I have been feeling a little neglectful for leaving him with my parents and going so far from home. I know he got bad really fast, but I was a couple ...

Croup, my son, and CPAP

This isn't really a CPAP comment, except that I am now truly thanking God for the fact that I chose CPAP and a full-face mask. Yesterday, my then almost 3-year old (today he is a three year old!) was a little hoarse. We left him with his brother and my parents and went to a wedding 2 hours away. We ...

If I don't rinse mine enough, it makes me dream about pickles. Boy do I wake up hungry.

Seriously, though, I soak 1/2 H2O, 1/2 Vinegar for about 10-15 minutes. My Ultra Mirage FF seals much better when I do it about every other weekend.

Perhaps I shouldn't have used the Darvocet for a week after my ankle surgery, either. Funny thing is, though, I used it according to the directions and was able to get myself off when it was not needed anymore. I know there are people who abuse that, too. Maybe I should have not used it when it help...

Amy- Kids are getting better. I've had meetings for 2 days then school starts on Monday. I'm glad to hear your daughter is doing better. I'm sorry you are so frustrated with your treatment. How has your weather been lately? I find I'm much more tolerant of my mask when it is cooler out. Okay, I'm mo...

imalp-
A daily headache is why I saw a neurologist. I couldn't stand it after a year, so I saw her, had sleep studies, started CPAP and within about a week, my headaches were virtually gone. They only come back when I have several bad nights in a row.

Amy, How was last night? I hope better! You have been such an encouragement to so many of us here. Keep at the Drs until you are happy with them. It sounds to me like this new one didn't take the time to listen to you like he should have. I still think the PLMD is something you should look into. I d...

Linda- Yep, still doing chickenpox. It wouldn't be so bad because he feels pretty good, except I have been stuck home almost all summer between ankle surgery, my shingles, and now the pox. And the youngest hasn't gotten it yet! Ugh! Thanks for your concern and encouragement. Amy- Sorry. Didn't mean ...
