Re: Increased leak rates plus zero AHI=Exhausted
Update: I had only been wiping my face mask down, except of my water tank was not doing a full cleaning (3 week period). I soaked my hose and headgear in slightly warm water with dish soap and cleaned everything. Headgear stayed in place last night much better, leak rate was only 10.4, 95% 30 and AH...

Re: Increased leak rates plus zero AHI=Exhausted
I am sorry but I have zero experience with the Luna machines. I don't know where the line in the sand is for the machine not being able to compensate for the leaks. It also depends on if the machine reports total leak (which is the vent rate plus any excess leaks) or excess leak only. Maybe someone...

Re: Increased leak rates plus zero AHI=Exhausted
What machine are you using? Different brands have different levels of leak before it will affect the therapy itself. If the leaks (even little tiny leaks) disturb your sleep often during the night then you won't get good solid sleep and it most definitely will affect how you feel during the day. I ...

Re: If I purchase a new machine will I still need my doctor (ENT) to set it up?
I hope that my doc does not have a financial relationship with the DME. Ask....they should tell the truth. Now I do understand the desire to get the best deal and save some money so I don't blame you for buying privately and not going through insurance and I would do the same thing BUT if you happe...

Increased leak rates plus zero AHI=Exhausted
My first week with my CPAP went great. AHI was about 1.9 and leak rates were low. I felt totally rested for the first time in years (had an AHI well past 35). Doctor had it on auto setting. Meeting with him at the 7 day mark he adjusted my flow rate to 10. I seemed to not do quite as well as when it...

Re: If I purchase a new machine will I still need my doctor (ENT) to set it up?
So how to proceed? I of course am going to listen to what he has to say. I have a feeling he is likely set in his ways about working through his DME. I agree with Respirator99....wait and see for sure what/which sleep apnea diagnosis you end up with. Odds are it will be plain jane vanilla obstructi...

Re: If I purchase a new machine will I still need my doctor (ENT) to set it up?
Enough with the comments about comments and the trash talk and slurs. Get on topic or STFU. Agreed. So today I got my sleep test back and it was extremely bad. Didn't have a chance to talk with my ENT. I am meeting with him Friday. However I WAS quoted $1300 by his staff and I CAN get a brand new u...

Re: If I purchase a new machine will I still need my doctor (ENT) to set it up?
A CPAP machine is a prescription medical device that requires a doctor to write a prescription for the purchase of said machine. Without a prescription, you're going to have a VERY difficult time buying a new CPAP machine. A used machine is going to be WAY easier to buy. Being a PhD and all, you sh...

Re: If I purchase a new machine will I still need my doctor (ENT) to set it up?
There's no one specific manufacturer or model of "CPAP" machine that is certain to address every sleep apnea diagnosis. "CPAP" refers to both a very specific and limited mode of apnea device therapy, and also to the generic term most frequently used in reference to any type of Positive Air Pressure...

Re: If I purchase a new machine will I still need my doctor (ENT) to set it up?
The doc I am currently seeing claims a cystoscopy w/ out meds (he puts his patients under) is barbaric. I wonder who's making the most money here? I had a cytoscopy a few years ago - no general anaesthetic, just local applied as a gel on the device. It was quite comfortable and no additional meds w...

If I purchase a new machine will I still need my doctor (ENT) to set it up?
Greetings, I have all the symptoms of sleep apnea...I awaken choking, snore loudly, and am still exhausted even after getting 8 hours sleep. Many doctors have recommended a sleep study and I am finally taking one tonight, given to me by an ENT with sleep expertise. I am 98% sure I will have sleep ap...
