Re: Central Apneas on Resmed Aircurve S11 VAuto

At the end of 3 or 4 days (or longer) use the OSCAR/SleepHQ data and how you are feeling to make one carefully chosen tweak to the settings. Stick with the new settings for at least 3 or 4 days before making another carefully chosen tweak. (The only exception is if you have a clear disaster of a ni...

Don't forget, switching back and forth between vAuto and S mode will turn EasyBreathe on and off. I recommend using EasyBreathe ON for S mode, YMMV.
Thank you for the reminder!

Re: Any Way To Lessen Noise From Mask Flaps Closing (rubber flaps inside the elbow) As Machine Is Ramping Up

The flaps won't open unless there is negative pressure in the mask and this can only happen when you are drawing more air than the machine can supply. And that happens when your ipap is too low. Increase your ipap. I had IPAP at 12 last night (usually 10) and the first few minutes of flapping were ...

(posting here and then will just respond to just one thread) Robysue, I am still going to re-review what you sent and answer your questions, but wanted to just post here the following: ResMed Aircurve 11: Mode: VAuto IPAP: 18 EPAP: 12 PS: 4 Trigger: Very High Within these last few weeks, I was on th...

Re: Any Way To Lessen Noise From Mask Flaps Closing (rubber flaps inside the elbow) As Machine Is Ramping Up

The flaps should snap shut once and not open unless there's no pressure. Those are the full face mask's "anti asphyxia valves". Their job it to fall open if there's no therapy pressure. If they don't snap shut when therapy pressure starts, blow out firmly while making sure there's no leak. They sho...

Any Way To Lessen Noise From Mask Flaps Closing (rubber flaps inside the elbow) As Machine Is Ramping Up

Hello All, I am using a ResMed AirCurve 11 in VAuto Mode, no Ramp. Tonight I will be using in S Mode with Ramp turned on as my pressure is S Mode is 18/12. When testing Ramp today (and many times before), there is a noticeable clicking noise every time when I breathe in. This noise comes from the fl...

Re: How Long To Feel Better When Starting CPAP Therapy

Sounds like a plan. I can set IPAP to 12 in S Mode on AirCurve 11 tonight. Thanks for explaining that "S" was stopped with ResMed S9, got it! Also, I ordered an oximeter which I will be able to use Friday night. I mentioned somewhere in this post (can't find at the moment) that I had this feeling be...

Re: Central Apneas on Resmed Aircurve S11 VAuto

My advice: Pick a set of settings and commit to using them for at least 3 or 4 days. Unless there is a clear disaster, resist the urge to change the settings based on what happens to one piece of data on one particular night. Keep better track of how you are feeling in a way that is independent of ...

Re: How Long To Feel Better When Starting CPAP Therapy

How you feel is a lot more important than a nice low AHI. What if your AHI was 0.0 and you still felt like crap? In the S9 model line the term "VPAP" was just denoting bilevel pressure availability. VPAP S just means it is a fixed bilevel machine meaning it never could auto adjust.. If it had offer...

Re: Central Apneas on Resmed Aircurve S11 VAuto

I did read in forum that with my settings that PS 4 seemed low and it was recommended to try 5 or 6. Who said that? What forum? I didn't see that recommendation at this forum. I suppose I could have missed it though. I started using Sleep HQ for data along with OSCAR. So, I posted a bit over there ...

Re: Central Apneas on Resmed Aircurve S11 VAuto

How was your sleep quality Monday July 22? Did you wake often? How did you decide to use PS of 5? why? On Monday 7/22, slept from 10:15 PM to 5:30 PM without waking up. It was recommended on a forum to use PS of 5 to address OSA, but noted that it could increase CAs, which it in fact did. So, tonig...
