Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Hi, I was hoping someone could help with my current cpap issue relating again to nasal dryness. I had been using the Phillips Nuance Pro mask with good success up until about 6 weeks ago when it was time to change my mask. I then found out that mask had been discontinued, so decided to opt for the D...

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Thanks for your suggestion. I’ve been using ayr gel for several months now and have recently added nasogel spray too. I was able to get 6 hours uninterrupted until this recent problem which has brought me back around to about 3 hours. A big shift recently and the humidifier is the only thing I can c...

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

I've been using the humidity at 3 for the past couple of months and it has just recently stopped being effective for me. The heated hose has been at 1 during this time too, so the settings have been consistent. I turned the humidity up to 5 last night and it made no difference. Is there any way to f...

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Thanks for your message robysue1. It has been on 'fixed' for the past few months. I didn't notice any improvement when I had it on 'adaptive' at the start but felt the difference straight away when switching to 'fixed' and have had it on there ever since. My only conclusion is it's no longer working...

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with an issue I've been having with my humidifier. My nasal dryness has gotten worse over the past couple of weeks to the point where I'm getting about 3 hours of sleep before waking up and having to rinse my nose. I've noticed that each time I wake up the ...

Thanks Pugsy, those are 2 solutions I will keep in mind if things don't get better.

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

I think I may be in your boat as my nose is always on the dry side.
I’ll give it another night or 2 at 4, and then try 5 if need be. That’s the maximum humidity setting on the dreamstation.

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Thanks for your help.
The water level has been pretty consistent recently, so I can’t really take anything from that.
As a general rule, do you turn your humidity level up during the colder months?

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

No changes in medication.
Bedroom humidity isn't something I monitor. I checked there now and it's 58% (I have no idea what to read into this).
Temperature has dropped recently. I sleep with the window open, but had it closed last night (making the room warmer) and it didn't make any difference.

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Looking for some advice on an issue I'm having now. CPAP has improved over the past couple of months, but my main issue now is my nose gets dried out after about 6 hours. This stopped for a while but has started again recently despite me keeping everything consistent. My humidity level was at 2 when...

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Hey, bit of an update since my last post about 5 weeks ago. I increased my minimum pressure to 4.5 and it didn’t make much difference to my sleep quality or AHI score. My aerophagia remained awful so I finally got a V-Com and it did help massively and has been a great help, so thank you for suggesti...

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Thanks again ozij. I'll give them a call on Monday to see if they can increase my minimum to 4.5 and see what impact that has.

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Thanks Pugsy. I get the impression from speaking to some of the staff there that they don't have a great knowledge about sleep apnea which is concerning. The fact that they assumed that a few nights with an AHI score slightly below 5 was enough to take me off the waiting list for a 2nd sleep study w...

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

Thanks for your post ozij. I think the trend data on sleephq gives a bit of a false impression as I did try several nights at 5, 5.5 and 6 before going to 6.5. The ramp feature makes it appear as if the minimum was 4, but this was only used at the start of my sleep to get me to sleep as I struggle t...
