Chin Strap inquiry
Does anyone use a chin strap effectively? I am a mouth breather with severe nasal congestion and yet I have persisted my way through 2.5 years of CPA therapy with a therapeutic ahi of less than 2. I am already using a mouth guard for TMJ upper and lower and minimal strap with resmed air fit F40. I o...

Anyone using MAD device and CPAP ?
I was told that some people use CPAP and MAD devices concurrently. Some people who have traveling and congestion issues may opt for MAD device in certain instances. I have heard though that MAD (Mandibular advancement device ) does not reduce apnea events as well as CPAP; therefore it is recommended...

Re: Anyone use hose lift or hose buddy system?
The command hook said the cord bundlers hold 2 pounds on packaging. Is that strong enough for a 6 foot CPAP hose?

Anyone use hose lift or hose buddy system?
I recently found that I was inconvenienced to say the least by my trusty bedside companion, my CPAP hose. It lies next to me at the same height as my head and usually stays out of my way- Last night I experienced rain-out for the first time in 3 months. I also use a hose cover to insulate the hose ....

Re: MAD oral appliance effective alternative to CPAP?
I am meeting with my TMJ dentist next week who has a lot of experience with sleep apnea as well. I am going to discuss the MAD with him and see what he thinks. My insurance will only cover one or the other and I have been successful and compliant on CPAP, so I don't know. But there are side effects ...

Re: MAD oral appliance effective alternative to CPAP?
Yes i have had several nasal endoscopies and reveal blockage - deviated septum- I had turbinate reduction surgery which did seem to help but a recent ct scan of head and neck revealed total blockage in one nostril.

Re: MAD oral appliance effective alternative to CPAP?
Thanks for your input—I totally agree that CPAP is the gold standard, and for me, it’s working very well. I’m consistently compliant, getting solid results most nights, and I don’t take that for granted. That said, due to some specific anatomical factors—TMJ issues, a recessed jaw, nasal blockage—I’...

Re: MAD oral appliance effective alternative to CPAP?
I went to an evaluation by a sleep dentist, and they wanted several thousand dollars for an MAD device and some other treatments, including laser treatments and a nasal treatment to free up breathing. They don't accept my insurance, and it would be a great undertaking. I understand it would be grati...

Re: MAD oral appliance effective alternative to CPAP?
Thank you. I have made an appointment with a Dentist who is board certified in dental sleep medicine, an expert on sleep breathing disorders, and understands the relationship to TMJ. MY big concern is the MAD device and treatment, and if CPAP is working with me and I have 100 percent compliance and ...

MAD oral appliance effective alternative to CPAP?
I have used CPAP successfully for over 2 years, but my Sleep doctor suggested I check out getting a manibular advancement device from a sleep dentist. I am mild, and he thinks I may be a possible candidate. I have heard mixed things about if they are better than CPAP. I also have TMJ, and I have hea...

How long do Pad-A-Cheek liners last?
I purchased a Pad-A Cheek mask liner for my F-40 Airfit mask. It works wonders on reducing itching and providing good seal and it;s quiet. Anyone know how long these liners last? I hand wash it once a week but still looks like it’s in good condition after 6 months and still works effectively.

Navage for Neil Med Rinse - Which is better?
I started using Neil Med about 4 months ago at the advice of my ENT. It has helped a lot and then some on this forum talked about Navage. I have never heard about it. I suffer from nasal airflow restrictions and had a turbinate reduction procedure that helped somewhat but not entirely solve the issu...

Room humidifier question
I have not used a room humidifier yet my room is moist and cool - I have adjusted the humidification on my airsense 11 but to no avail. Has anyone with dry nasal passages and breathing issues through the nose found relief with a room humidifier? Does it also help with dry mouth symptoms?
