Re: Ambien halved my residual AHI (4-7 >> 2-3)
Robysue1, This was extremely insightful, thank you so much. You convinced me to undergo lab sleep study because EEG would definitely elucidate the timing of OA events. Without it, I can only guess. Furthermore, my neurologist wanted to see new lab sleep test to reassess narcolepsy ( I was diagnosed ...

Re: Ambien halved my residual AHI (4-7 >> 2-3)
Agreed that reducing arousals reduces AHI, but I do not agree with mechanism behind it. Arousals introduce airway instability in subsequent sleep. I didn't dig up all the details but following excerpt from Confalonieri et al. might suffice: it is believed that low AT contributes to the pathology of ...

Ambien halved my residual AHI (4-7 >> 2-3)
My residual AHI hovered in the region 4-7. I use 9cm constant pressure (IPAP=EPAP) and EPR off. If I try to increase IPAP I get nasty aerophagia that is deal breaker for me. I cannot treat it with EPR>0 because I have palatal prolapse and EPR>0 makes it so much worse. That said, I was assessing whet...

Re: Considering Using CBD Gummies
Take ambien. I know that officially - Apnea is contraindication. Yet ,a lot of OSA patients have "low arousal treshold" as a cause of sleep apnea. Long story short, I found out that I am one of them. My neurologist that treats osa and narcoleptic patients, gave me ambien to increase arousal treshold...

Re: Mystery solved! ever heard of "palatal prolapse" (new article)?
Hi @Shaare, thanks for reviving the old thread. I found your reply quite interesting and have a few questions. I also have classic PP. If I let CPAP, my pressures could sometimes go up to 15 without resolving some OA events. That being said, I am somewhat unsatisfied with CPAP. How is that ASV is be...

Re: Nightlase or Snorelase for Palatal Prolapse
I had 2 sessions of nightlase for palatal prolapse. Didn't help much. It did contract palate a bit, but pharynx was still not visible. Ahi remained the same (~5 on 6.6-8.6cm, no EPR). Then I decided to do something more radical - somnoplasty (other names are RFTVR, ablation/coblation, stiffening, ch...

Re: Nasal Dialtors in conjuctions with CPAP?
Right now I have nasal tape with dreamwever nasal cushions. Tape dilates nasal valves somewhat, hence sparing the air pressure from doing the same thing. My experience is that I need somewhat lower pressures for the same AHI with them.

Re: Can this be palatal prolapse?
Yes, exactly, thanks for reiterating - better to use it constantly even if undertreated, than to use it sparingly (due to side effects) and feel like a zombie.Maybe that's it. Forget the data. I was taught to judge my sleep at the end of the day instead of in the morning.

Re: Can this be palatal prolapse?
Hello ChicagoGranny. I attached with this post 13-sept data as per apneaboard.com suggestions. I do mouth tape vertically but cheeks puff and air leaks Are you practicing holding the tip of the tongue on the roof of the mouth? Are the leaks from the mask or between your lips? Leaks are mostly from t...

Re: Can this be palatal prolapse?
I reordered and scaled graphs a bit.
Nevertheless, major leaks are still there even on such low pressures, so I tried to zoom on parts without leaks so that flow rate has some meaning.

Can this be palatal prolapse?
Hello everyone. First time poster :) Since 2000 I've been noisy breather and breath holder. First sleep test in lab in 2000 was negative. Yet because of expiratory night groaning (catathrenia) making my wife lose sleep I had uvuloplasty in 2015 (there was paper claming it helps). It did nothing for ...
