Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

To be clear, you do not have a high BPM at all. You have severe flow limitation, and every now and then it's so bad that flow stops in mid inhalation and resumes a split second later. However, since the machine reregisters a breath every time inspiration hits -0-, it counts that breath as 2 and the...

Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

Can you tell me if at any time while you're awake, breathing on the machine, that the machine is sending in pulses that may or may not be in sync with your breathing? Nothing other than my own breathing is affecting the data/breathing patterns. It seems to match up with my pulse which is around 77-...

Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

Here is the same night as the Imgur was linked to but shown in SleepHQ instead of OSCAR. The graphs especially breaths look a bit different, but on the different platforms. https://sleephq.com/public/e3a670e1-6ebd-4fed-817d-4bf477c62a69 The weird breathing occured around 08.59 in the morning. Again,...

Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

from what i can gather (and i may be wrong) the advantage of sleephq is that after you post it, someone else looking at the chart can zoom in to see certain aspects. with oscar, you are the only one that can zoom in. That's great! I wish OSCAR had the same function. I'll check out SleepHQ and see i...

Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

I think you need to load up the entire night to SleepHQ to get a better idea of the source of the oscillations. However, IMO that's palatal interference, based on how the inspiratory limb gets pretty much destroyed (airway FL) and anyway CBA is usually much less (if at all) apparent on inspiration....

Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

I am puzzled by the flow rate in the snippet you posted, and I'm hoping some experts will take a look. I do see what appears to be cardioballistic (cardiogenic) effects (artifacts) in the small oscillations around the zero line. But I'm skeptical whether the "double inhalations" reflect your heartb...

Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

95 % numbers of anything (pressure, leak, respiration rate, whatever) just means you were AT OR BELOW that number for 95% of the night. The OR BELOW part is really important. It does NOT mean your number means you were at that rate for 95% of the night. Thank you, you explained it really well. I ge...

Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

Why don't you post a couple of Oscar reports and circle whatever seems weird, then experts here can see them and comment. I honestly think I'm going to let it be as it is until the appointment. I'm getting a bit too stressed out about the data. The breaths just looks a bit jagged, like waves on top...

Re: High respiratory rate and weird breathing

Your median respiratory rate is 13.6. This is normal. If you want to post the full-night RR line, we could possibly make some more comments. In the meantime, there is nothing that should alarm you about the RR. Thank you. It's good to hear that the breathing rate is okay. I still don't quite get wh...

High respiratory rate and weird breathing

Imgur link with OSCAR data screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/6jEujGQ Hi, I keep seeing these weird breaths in my OSCAR reports. Someone on reddit suggested cardiogenic oscillations. Are they something to worry about? They happen pretty much every single night in episodes. I'm absolutely going to talk ...

Re: OSCAR data showing Clear Airway events. Normal or something to worry about?

I'm fully aware that it would be better to talk with a sleep specialist.    A lot of us were titrated and advised poorly by the medical profession. We came here and got things optimized. I'm through with sleep professionals. At my annual physical, my GP renews my CPAP supplies ...

Re: OSCAR data showing Clear Airway events. Normal or something to worry about?

Oh, I forgot to ask this; am I breathing at all during the Clear Airway episodes? Maybe a stupid question but I have no idea how to read these graphs haha. to follow up on what miss e. has said, hold your breath for 10 seconds. that's a central apnea. everyone has these when starting out. it's natu...

Re: OSCAR data showing Clear Airway events. Normal or something to worry about?

Respiratory drive is primarily derived by the intensity of signal output from respiratory centers located in the brain stem. The principle factors to stimulate the production of these signals is CO2 and blood PH. If current blood CO2 level is below a threshold value, the brain will not signal the c...

Re: OSCAR data showing Clear Airway events. Normal or something to worry about?

Welcome to the forum. I don't think there are enough CAs there to worry about. I'm guessing (and could be corrected) that the little cluster you highlighted is transitional - ie you're in the process of waking up or dozing and your breath is getting a bit ragged. Also known as sleep-wake junk. Than...
